In for Mandzukic now apparently, he's 33 lol.

That'd be a good signing actually. With Lukaku gone their only proper striker will be Rashford. Martial and Dybala can't really lead the line on their own.

Mandzukic would bring some much needed experience and an aerial target. It's not gonna make them contenders but it's a smart move for 15m.

Another signing to boost shirt sales. The rags will now need one with and extra wide neck so Herman Munster can get it over his loaf.

Based on recent big money signings by united, he'll be wank

Nor is he the answer to their lack of creativity in midfield or address the disenfranchised Pogba or the badly used Lukaku despite the fact he is greeted by the press as their golden ticket back into the top 4 and nobody wonders why Klopp isn't moaning about them spending £££££'s. On the latter point maybe Klopp will be pissed off when the rags beat the dippers to 5th place - maybe then it will be all about rag spending?

Depsite the piss taking Mcguire will improve their defence

Wan-bissaka lindelof mcguire shaw

That isn't that bad a defence and one tfat is young.

Thankfuĺly their midfield and attack are wank

Put Maguire alongside Lidelof or Phil the Face or Smallthing and you have only shored up one side - it is a lot of money to half fix one issue and not address several others.

And their coach is shit. Also, don't forget the toxic dressing room.

this is bang on, they are now in the position we were in having to pay over the odds for B rate players, with no A rate willing to give them the time of day........unfortunately for them they haven't got the long term vision to plan their way out of it

Fortunately for them, due to FFP regs, they can buy themselves out of trouble. But let’s be honest for one second here... and I feel that this is important...

Our owners were promising things post takeover, few understood. They were talking about a plan and a vision... these are highly educated men, and highly intelligent, the kind of people that I occasionally had the pleasure to meet in boardrooms, you only have to listen to a Khaldoons end of season talks to understand what I mean here. I’ll discuss what we have now as fact before I go back.

We have completed an unprecedented domestic treble, the season before we have smashed most records standing, the season before we set out a style of play on the pitch we were going to use with our next manager.

The previous manager was someone who could start a style of play which Pep Guardiola could continue on from, and was strategically instilled by the strategically appointed directors who were to bring him in, plus player acquisitions.

If anyone thinks anything was left to chance they are wrong, these guys are informed and relentless, especially Khaldoon Al Mulbarak.

Prior to that we had to get from where we were, to where we wanted to go, via Hughes and then Mancini.

They scouted the world best sports facilities, took copies, made improvements and implemented them without fuss. This was nothing new to them.

Read this, come back...

They bought a club for £150M in 2009, with a plan to make it the best ran club within 10 years. We are without doubt the best ran football club in world football right now.

We are a champions league win away from a dominance never seen before.

Fans of rival clubs and the media written by those very same fans, ignore us as they wallow in their bitter tears, as they watch us grow and dominate.

They cry about things that have no bearing to our success as they have nothing left to cling on to, empty seats... human rights records or anything else.

The fact is we’re ran by a few of the worlds most successful businessmen, and if anyone wants me to go into detail I will.

As you said, they have neither a long term vision nor a plan, as long as they keep spanking their financial dominance on over priced players I’m happy.

The Glazers plan and Khaldoons plan are polar opposites.

Sometimes you find that by having one really good defender at the back, they improve everyone around them. I'm not sure if Maguire is that good, but he certainly had a record last season of doing well against the big teams. Perhaps that suggests that his best games came when they were under the cosh though, rather than in games where they were controlling possession.

One thing to be careful of is thinking that because a team has bought defenders, that won't improve their attacking, because we know better than most fans how untrue that can be. If they're more solid at the back, this can free up the midfield to take more risks and push forward more.

Unless Maguire can step forward into midfield and create for whomsoever they have up front he doesn't do anything except shore up one side of their centre of defence. Even the BBC say he is no VvD - another marquee signing that sells shirts but doesn't ultimately improve their league position.

Who's buying a shirt with Maguire on the back?

And aren’t they all right-footed?

I know it’s not the be all and end all to have a left/right combination at centre-back - we did well enough before Aymeric arrived - but it must help.

We had a quick discussion before seven a side tonight where I said McGuire is similar to Richard Dunne
He's a great six yard box defender and will throw his body on the line, but he's not a progressive footballer who can properly play out and pick a pass
