It might only be classed as a pre-season friendly but I think it could be important psychologically to get one over on them before the league season starts.

Also, after hearing all this talk of them potentially winning seven trophies this season, I'd love us to make that an impossibility already.

I could be wrong but I do wonder with Laporte if it's more a case of Pep being aware that he's the most important player in the area we have the least depth in and is just saving him for West Ham.

The problem with trying to sign a new centre back is that unless he’s homegrown, we’d need to get rid of Otamendi anyway as we already have a full quota of non-HG players. And with Maguire going to Utd I can’t really see any homegrown centre backs who are good enough.

We are in trouble if AL gets a long term injury this season without any new CB signing in the next few days. Hopefully this early knock is just a minor problem.
