Next Captain

I think we should go straight in this season with someone who can be captain for a fair few years, rather than the old guard.

KDB or Stones, they both seem a bit too emotional for me, often see them having a go at people, but is it in the right way?

Maybe Sterling or Bernardo, both candidates for sure.

Curveball... Zinchenko!! Everybody loves him.

Probably Spanish Dave this season though I would have thought.

Vinny used to have a go at people as well,we are striving for perfection and anyone making the right decisions,Kev has matured, bernie is not a leader imo,it would hurt his game if he has to be keeping an eye on everyone else,be interesting who the players pick

I imagine this will be announced fairly soon now that Fernandinho is back. My choice would be De Bruyne.

To be fair, Mangala will probably outlast the rest of the squad so he's as good a choice as any.

Are people still discussing this? We have a pretty established order when it comes to the captaincy. Kompany has gone so it's Silva now when he's on pitch. And then Fernandinho.

Seeing as we know for a fact that Silva is leaving in eleven months and Fernandinho will probably follow him, I think it's far-fetched to describe either of them as 'long-term'...

Personally I'd rather we named a captain right now who we intend to hold the armband for five years or more. Otherwise it'll feel like a stop-gap.

I think a good captain should be high quality as a player, likely to start plenty of games, intelligent, level-headed and passionate. That would qualify Silva and Fernandinho but after this season I think the armband will end up with De Bruyne or Laporte. If Rodri has a good season he may even get in the conversation.

I don't think there is any question it will be Debryune. He is the best player, top 3 most hardworking, and a vocal and honesty speaker.

He'd have gotten my vote easily.

We're not going to do that. We'll just have a hierarchy of like 5 people and people will move up the chain. I really don't think it matters. We have leaders all over the pitch. It's remarkable really given I don't think the likes of United, arsenal or Chelsea have a single one.

Ultimately, we have 5-10 players that you could describe as captain material and we also play a style where everyone knows precisely where they need to be depending on where the ball is. They don't need someone barking orders on the pitch because they all know exactly how to do their job. For as long as we have someone like Pep in charge they will all be expected to be leaders and the captaincy will remain more of an inspirational role. Which is why, in my opinion, we will continue to give the armband on any given day to whoever is playing and ranks highest on that list. I think that system works for this squad and I also think it's also a good way of making it feel less disruptive to the club if your captain leaves.

I imagine it would/should be DSilva ...

.... but ....

Hes a humble guy, he may well turn it down in favour of a longer term choice though.

I hope if it isnt him them whover it is jointly lifts all the trophies we are gonna win this season with , IMO, our greatest ever player

Are we confusing Club Captain with on field playing Captain .
