Yep but if you want to advocate the benefits of free movement perhaps use nurses, doctors, tradesmen as the benefits . Not cheap coffee , butties and hotel rooms for cockneys

Coffee shops need staff as do care homes as do a lot of other industries which may be considered less than ideal. That doesn't mean the country doesn't need them for the country to tick over

Working in a coffee shop probably isn't the career choice for most so to have access to a transient work force is key for them to survive

See my post above . He also used the service sector - not wise

For the record I could not give a fuck about free movement . Anything that allows pep , Laporte , Silva Bernardo to move back and forth and for their families to visit when they want uninhibited is fine by me. I will need it.

As soon as my son leaves school for uni. I am out of this shithole.
I'm planning on coming over for a week at Halloween, with my son and the dog.
Do I need to bring extra food and water over.
Is there anything I can bring over to ease your suffering. I only want to help.
Will we get out again? I don't want to be trapped over there.

The uncertainty!

Well it’s started with pret lady and that was
ridiculed and not a true representation of the benefits of migration.

Now we have returned full circle and the reality is it is exploiting poorer people in poorer countries to come over here and look after our elderly and serve us cheap coffee and sandwiches as we rich developed people don’t want to do it,

So let’s get poor people from poor countries to come over here and do the shit jobs we don’t want to do for shit wages and live in shit accommodation.

Some would call it exploitation, but hey if these INDUSTRIES need it then that’s fine.

I don’t know who is left wing on here anymore.

Yep and imagine if we said preventing brexit will give rise to violence by pro democracy movements and increase far right and give fuel to anti immigration groups which will resort to violence .

To quote your words back to you

By threatening to overturn a democratic result you change the delicate balance and you create space for this fringe to grow.

The real truth here is simply this.

Those who hold views so strongly that they choose to resort to violence to achieve their aims whether in Ireland , or in the uk or anywhere in the world are terrorists and terrorism should never hold democracy to ransom.

Paris Berlin and Brussels will not be affected by the return to violence it will be us , and they should be bending over backwards to accommodate a solution. What you and the eu seem to be suggesting is the preservation of a common customs duties top trumps human life. It doesn’t

Brexit has already directly cost a life through terrorism. With the murder of Jo Cox in the name of Brexit this whole sorry affair was born in blood. I have little illusion that no matter how this is resolved blood will be spilt. We upset the status quo and when you do that there is always a price to pay. There was a chance shortly after the referendum of a compromise, a Norway type solution, that could have been sold to the country. Leave the EU but maintain a lot of the economic links but no, May salted the earth and polarisation between extremes grew. When we needed a leader we got a political pygmy.

Then the EU proposed a solution to NI in order to safeguard the GFA. We rejected it. We proposed an alternative which the EU accepted. All to safeguard the peace process. Then we trashed our own solution and now our ‘solution’ is vague unspecified commitments allied to the threat to its own citizens of food and medicine shortages and to the NI peace process and its Paris and Berlin who should be bending over backwards? 27 European countries should shred the European Project and its economic creation of a single pan European market to appease the Brexit fanatics who have taken a narrow mandate to mean we cut all ties with Europe and isolate ourselves and who refuse to compromise?

As for democracy being held to ransom well democracy is a servant not a master and democracy often has conflicting outcomes. The GFA was an all Ireland referendum. NI voted to remain. The backstop has majority support in NI. Does ‘our democracy’ trump their democracy? And how does a PM elected by 140,000 people to pursue a no deal outcome that was rejected at the 2017 GE and dismissed as ‘Project Fear’ at the 2016 referendum fit into this ‘democracy’? Why are we being held to ransom to satisfy an outcome no one actually voted for? Do the EU nationals living here right now not feel ‘threatened’ by the Home Secs desire to end their legal right to stay after 31st Oct? You would be forgiven for wondering who exactly are ‘the terrorists’ right now.

Modern day slavery mate. It's why the nice rich people of Kensington needed Grenfell tower to be on their doorstep stuffed with hundreds of immigrants (legal and illegal) and poor people so they can get pret, costa, Tesco express service off minimum wage employees in the heart of one of the wealthiest places on earth. This imho is where restricting free movement or some sort of points based immigration system ironically becomes a mechanism to protect transient employees from abuse rather than 'keep them out' policy.

If you're out of this shithole, why bother yourself with a thread about the future of this country?

Rubbish.

Their campaign of violence, thuggery and unlawfulness has never stopped and nor will it and all that whilst members of the EU, SM and CU.

Spin the wheel Bob and lets have yet another scare story for the day we can discuss.

We have done food and medicine this week again so something else to keep it fresh if you can.

I would call someone like you stupid for not being able to see the comparisons but I won't but you can draw your own conclusions which you obviously already have.

You lost me at 'Jo Cox being murdered in the name of brexit'. Utter bollocks. She was murdered by a mentally ill right wing nut job. Your hysterical views are in themselves actual borderline incitement.

I didn't mention exploitation or shit wages. But the reality is, these jobs are low paid jobs(for a variety of reasons) and for other reasons are unattractive. So to limit ourselves to only be able to hiring UK based employees is absurd. Also, people may want to work in the car industry and I imagine the care industry in the UK pays more than it does in Lithuania, I also imagine there are also stronger employee rights here - to sum up, the UK is(was) an attractive place to live and work and people may want to trade the negatives as they want to get on the UK career ladder to make a life here

We need(needed) people to come and live ad work in this country to now turn the tap off is a negative and regressive step

Can't say I blame you for wanting to go,I attempted to persuade my wife to leave too, kids and grandkids too much of a tie.
Should have left earlier, your money would have gone further though.

Ah the thing I love about Brexit is all the shit that happens which people swear blind has nothing to do with Brexit. A bit like an MP advocating for the EU being murdered during a Brexit referendum by a Brexit supporter who saw people like Cox as a ‘collaborator’ and a ‘traitor’. Now where have I heard those words before? Ah yes from the PM. Always nice to be labelled as such by ones own (unelected) PM. Let’s hope that other ‘right wing nut jobs’ don’t take this as encouragement.

I see Johnson's letter got the response it deserved. what a statesman he's proving to be.

Do they sell Findus Chicken Curry Pancakes in Ireland?

Except Jo Cox was murdered before the vote took place.

You will also note, no attempt to answer any of the pertinent questions you asked in your original post. Quelle surprise.
