They're not arbitrarily changing the laws though, they are adapting to the criticism from 40 matches (still a small sample)

Also it's not going away, no matter how much we bleat about individual decisions, so what would you prefer a system that is being interpreted badly and in some cases inconsistently, or one where they adapt to the criticism, and they use more common sense ?
 
So VAR has been introduced and the official performances are at an all time low, but VAR cannot change any of that.
Fooking ridiculous. They are making a mockery of the game. Someone needs to tell them, it ISN'T about them, we go
to watch the footballers.

If they are responding to criticism, it is arbitary, and clubs with goals disallowed like the one Laporte had chalked off will be the ones that lose out. Changing during a season has to be unfair to some clubs and a bonus to others and makes you wonder how any of them relegated or losing the title because of such changes may react.

We've had 40/380 games of course it will adapt, and they've done exactly this for years. New edicts are brought in and tried every season, and they either stick or vanish, so obviously will affect some clubs and not others.

What we are seeing is a new system in its early stages, some of it will not work the best for the game right away, and will need some adjustment, so far it seems intent on stopping the one things that counts in football, goals, anyone can see that, and that hurts the game, so it has to be adjusted to prevent that.

Those just shouting do away with it, are going to be disappointed, and are wasting their efforts, better to get it doing things right, and in favour of the game, imho.
 
I'd just like to reiterate that we should be top of the league on merit but an incorrect VAR decision cost us a winning goal in the game we drew, which ironically was our best performance so far this season.

Each to his own but I cannot stand VAR. I am wholly opposed to having to wait to find out if we have scored a legitimate goal. I want "instant" decisions. Yesterday I was up and celebrating the first three goals as there didn't seem much likelihood of them being disallowed but I stayed in my seat for the fourth as I thought Bernie might have been offside.

Of course I want correct decisions; particularly in the important moments but until they can do (very) quick and accurate, I'd rather take my chances with no VAR.
 
It’s very simple, whatever happens just make the “correct” decision.

As fans 9/10 we can tell within seconds whether a decision is correct or not. We all make mistakes and the odd one we could all accept when there’s different angles etc. I’ve personally got an apology to make to @SWP's back with regards to the Martial incident last weekend, I saw a clip from the Scum’s game from behind the goal and it’s clear he was pulled again in the box. I was fucking adamant that the foul stopped outside the box and it does IMO, however the defender pulls him again inside the box from a different angle.

However, the stuff like Grealish, Silva and Rodri’s penalties are just laughable. The Tielmann’s red card yesterday, we all know as fans that’s a leg breaker and a straight red whether it’s intention or not, it’s reckless and dangerous. The Laporte handball is clearly bollocks, he didn’t have a clue where that had gone and there’s no proof it even hit his hand/arm unlike yesterday’s decision at Newcastle.
 
I thought they released a statement following the spurs game that they would not be revising any interpretation but would listen to constructive comments from all interested parties at their meeting in mid September......

Since when did they change the laws within the course of a season? I'm not against var if it's run in a competent manner, sorts issues quickly and we don't end up wondering about the impartiality of those running it. One of the Muppets actually said it would take ten years for us to get used to it. If that's the case, you can see match commentators informing us that we are just going to hear a quick message from their sponsors. The game will be unwatchable in the ground or on tv.

I might do that Squirtyflower, I'm allegedly a jinx so if I bet on something it will not happen. So could I put £1 bet on Lierpool breaking that record and £1 bet on Jermaine Jenas ever saying anything good about City without a but/however in there? ;-)

I have got a little suspicion that mike riley and the premier league are deliberately misusung VAR to turn fans against it. That way, they can go back to being as bent as they have always been without the safety net of honesty and correctness that a properly-run VAR would bring. Evidence: completely disregarding the VAR laws brought in everywhere else they are using it, in favour of their own little "code".

"Let's randomly fuck it up so no-one wants VAR any more". It has taken them two years to think of this and it appears to me to be a very good plan.

And look, it is working.

I tend to agree with this train of thought, but they are making such a fuck up of it that it should be taken off them and given to an independent body
