Why should he worry what stupid easily (deliberately ?) offended no marks think ? Why is it racist? It is a picture of a young Mendy. Silva couldn't really put a picture of Cauley Maculkin could he.

I'd describe this as naive. No offence was intended but in this day and age you just can't get away with it without getting bad press.

Ironically, the same lack of cultural awareness shown by Bernardo towards this issue is the same lack of awareness shown to Bernardo's culture/background/environment by those who are getting up in arms about this. But the people who get worked up about this don't appreciate their hypocrisy being pointed out.

His best bet is either to bite the bullet and come up with some PC friendly apology (even if it's not what he actually feels), or just keep his head down and wait for this to blow over. People forget things as soon as the next reason to be angry comes along.
 
Mendy once joked about his colour on a photo on twitter posted by one of the lads saying something like “it took me ages to find myself on that picture” in reference to his darker shade of skin. He obviously jokes with his teammates about such stuff.
 
I’m sure if the story was say David de gea with pogba some blues would be of the same opinion, nothing to see coz he’s a blue haha. Was it intentionally racist by Bernardo? No. Was it a wise move? Absolutely not. I can’t say the character looks anything like Mendy except in a racist stereotype way tbh. Childish banter on a public forum involving race.Not good. The daft sod.
 
I do think the title of this thread is in poor taste too. It implies big guilt from the get go over what is clearly a complex case.

Because we all know how the world acts when you put up anything related to colour of skin. It's now going to be highlighted and reported about and hyped up to epic proportions.

When you say “justice,” WHO IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE INJUSTICE HERE?

Was it the guy who responded to the obvious joke between friends with a LIKE??

Sometimes, people get on their high horse LOOKING for the victim, because THEY see a “crime” THEY want to prosecute!

People need to get a life and get over their delicate selves.

Having professional “-ism police” patrolling our lives isn’t a good thing. If Mendy is offended, I’m sure he is quite capable of taking care of that himself...even to the point of reporting it, if so inclined. However, the completely manufactured hue and cry by OTHERS outside personal interactions is a cancer on society, with everyone walking on eggshells, with everyone else springlisded to point out the misstep.

What a fucking way to live!!!

Did we forget that things like FACEBOOK and TWITTER can actually be avoided?! I know, SHOCKING, isn’t it?!

If someone writes or posts something that offends you, UNFRIEND them or UNFOLLOW their account. Don’t people on these platforms live and die by their numbers? If so, walk away and use YOUR “vote” to say “I don’t like that” or “that personally offends me, so I’m not going to support your account on this platform.”

Why the need to be part of some posse designed to literally harm the offender?

You know what people who seek public attention hate most of all?

LOSING THE PUBLIC’S ATTENTION!!!

If it bothers you so much, WITHDRAW YOUR ATTENTION!!!
 
If it was a joke between just him and Mendy there would be no issue. But he really should have thought for one second if that was something he should be publicly tweeting when you know this is the sort of reaction it would get.
 
Its about time the club and not just ours said to players here is your contract and nice big pay packets but as part of it social media is banned unless it is pre authorised by the club.
