If it was corruption, it would be one of the stupidest ways ever seen to implement it - video evidence that the entire audience can also see.
I think the main issue is the lack of any communication post event and transparency. I really don’t mind them coming out and saying “we missed that one”, it at least makes you think they’re trying to learn.
I do hate the way football is going with this though. The Aguero one, I completely agree with should have been spotted by the ref let alone by VAR. The handball one though - if having VAR, or the benefit of multiple views, didn’t exist then I wouldn’t have even noticed it. It doesn’t sit comfortably those are now seen as essentially the same as a goal not being given because the team doesn’t get a penalty for it.
I’m in a minority though in that I’d rather get rid of var completely and also get rid of replays!
