Looks like the latest offer from Johnson fails for the EU In two areas:
1) checks on goods at or around the border
2) giving NI assembly the final say on when to leave the regulatory alignment agreement with the EU. Effectively giving the decision to the DUP as they are the largest party.
What about giving NI a referendum on point 2 rather than giving the NI assembly the final say?
Maybe if we move on Point 2, the EU may move on point 1?

Yes, they are. They "rejected" our bizarre Norway Plus Brexit plan as unreasonable. Norway insisted that the only solution, is for the UK to join the EFTA. Iceland, for example, is very willing. The EFTA requires all members to accept the UK and Norway aren't willing to let us join so we probably couldn't even join even if the electorate wanted too

Yes, but we can go straight from the EU into EFTA with a transition period, we don't need to leave and then sort out joining EFTA.EFTA is a different body you still have to leave the Eu
