The people don't know, so let's just remain in an organisation like the EU that you've just admitted the majority of the people didn't know about either, on the basis that other people who support it say we should?

You starting to see why many people are getting really pissed off at the condescending attitudes of commentators on this issue? "The people don't know enough, but do know enough to know the EU is best!". Are you kidding me?

You might be upset by it but I guarantee most people literally don't know what the EEA is, go and ask people in the street if you like and come back with your results.
It's a complete pipe dream and the closest you're going to get to it is labor most likely with their second ref

Could probably consider them to be more moderate...but more moderate than the DUP isnt exactly difficult. Historically the bigger Unionist Party, lead by David Trimble who along with John Hume (SDLP) helped forge the GFA
What was the reason for the rise in DUP support at the last election (if there was one), if you don't mind me asking?

That is the burden of being able to post the facts of what is actually happening and will happen with an audience that only wants to ignore reality

It is indeed missionary work, but for centuries martyrs have had to do this stuff

And it is always generally unappreciated - you even get packs formed to hound them

Good news is that history tends to prove them to have been correct all the time - although that is never admitted by the naysayers. We have to take comfort in doing civil duties.

you've lost the plot

Looks like the latest offer from Johnson fails for the EU In two areas:

1) checks on goods at or around the border
2) giving NI assembly the final say on when to leave the regulatory alignment agreement with the EU. Effectively giving the decision to the DUP as they are the largest party.

What about giving NI a referendum on point 2 rather than giving the NI assembly the final say?

Maybe if we move on Point 2, the EU may move on point 1?

The DUP arent the largest party...they have the same number of seats as Sinn Fein....but Sinn Feinn wont sit at Westminster

Giving NI a referendum on point 2 firstly isnt fair because secondly it is essentially making it a border poll...you cant FORCE a disguised border poll upon us...that WILL reignite the troubles

Keep the people ignorant and tell them the EU is what's best for them.

Or better yet, assume they are, as the best tactic to argue for us staying in.

Here you go: https://www.theguardian.com/politic...oliticians-reject-uks-norway-plus-brexit-plan

The EFTA requires all members to accept the UK and Norway aren't willing to let us join so we probably couldn't even join even if the electorate wanted too
Yes, they are. They "rejected" our bizarre Norway Plus Brexit plan as unreasonable. Norway insisted that the only solution, is for the UK to join the EFTA. They practically willed us to do so. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-b...f-britain-seeks-to-join-efta-pm-idUKKCN1NX16V They haven't dismissed us becoming a member of the EFTA at all, nor have other members. Iceland, for example, is very willing. Liechtenstein have no issues, and the Swiss want to ensure the UK doesn't try and become a "dominance factor", but again, have made no statements about rejecting us as a member.

Hmm ..... tricky one for sure and your obviously much closer to it that I am.

What about agreeing legally that any NI referendum can’t impose any form of border?

Have they said they'd accept us? Remember we'd require all 4 of us to say yes
Re-read my post. I've gone into/added more detail.

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-b...f-britain-seeks-to-join-efta-pm-idUKKCN1NX16V

Norway rejected our "Norway Plus" plan, not the idea of the UK becoming an EFTA member. The UK becoming an EFTA member was Norway's "solution" on our behalf, but they also stated they didn't really want to get politically involved with the issue.

That may be where we end up but first of all we have to leave the Eu ....
