I don't agree with a student tax because it would be messy and more expensive way to recover costs. University education is already free if you want it. Get given £9250 per year for the fees, £4k to £9k a year for living expenses, and do a low-paid job for 30 years. Completely free.

Its a logical conclusion to come to. I have said the exact same thing on here over recent weeks. Corbyn is a **** but we would be 10x better off with Corbyn + remain than we would with Boris + no deal leave.

No deal is an economic car crash with zero upside. Corbyn if unfettered would be an economic car crash but with considerable upside and it would only last 4/5 years. But in reality Corbyn would be significantly fettered - he only just commands the support of his MPs many far more moderate - they could easily keep him in check.

There is no prospect whatsoever in my view of a majority labour government following the next election. What may happen is that anti Brexit parties may be in a position to form a coalition. First however they would have to stop squabbling about who might head such a coalition. If media reports are to be believed, they show no sign of being able to put the clear national interest before their own narrow party interests.

This is true and how ridiculously stupid and perverse the whole system is designed because a high percentage of the debts will never be paid off and end up being written off. The sooner we get rid of this ideology that education doesn't pay the better. If we are having to recruit 1000's of doctors and nurses because burseries and university fees it makes no sense does it? The same shit for brains will be moaning about too many brown faces in hospital would be moaning about making students for all their studies and living expenses.

Agree 100%. I assume the Labour vote/MPs will hold maybe some losses and the Lib Dems and SNP will make big gains. If it's enough for a majority then you would assume Labour would lead it but the Elephant in the room would be Corbyn would have lost two elections and there will be calls for him to stand down. A bit like when Gordon Brown lost the election he was there as leader but we all new he had to go.

Labour will go into melt down.

As long as Boris is not PM I don't care.

The kind of deal that they might agree to would be one that doesn't involve an Irish land border. A position that Boris and every other leaver politician advocated pre referendum.

The direction Boris has chosen is one where no deal or no brexit is inevitable.

I don't know where the racism angle comes from in your response, but apart from that I'm not sure it is that bad a system. The universities I have experience of are re-investing the funds into better facilities and modern buildings, because the market has become very competitive and they need to be attractive establishments. I really don't see a problem with charging students for their education through their pay if they earn enough, but if a student chooses to continue living in an area where pay is low they do not get penalised. The alternative of everyone paying into the tax system to create free tuition fees would probably see the system become a political football again and no doubt result in lower funding.
