I picked up on:
"Mr Johnson on Friday sought to reassure Labour MPs that the UK would not lower its employment, environmental or consumer standards after Brexit. He said that, apart from commitments included in the Brexit deal’s political declaration, there would be guarantees written into the implementation legislation for the agreement."

Which hardly explains why his deal removed those elements from the WA...

Unless he's lying of course. Just imagine.

Trust me he said ....... Trust me

I mean in a party manifesto at a general election not a referendum.

The manifesto would have to be be to have a referendum to rejoin, rather than rejoin outright. Otherwise, it would be a betrayal of democracy. Brexit IS democracy.

I'm not so sure about the last part.

Of course my experiences are only anecdotal, but most of the people I speak to these days are either "out, out, out", or alternatively remainers who like me have come to the conclusion that reluctantly we just have to get on with it and a deal is better than no deal. I was in a taxi only yesterday and the taxi driver said that was exactly his feeling as well. I've no way of knowing if my experiences are atypical, but if they are not, I think the Remain vote is decaying away somewhat.
I disagree with that the remain support is still there iit just the routes to it are getting narrower. Let's be honest all this could have been done months ago. Mays dear was spoiled by the ERG because they wanted there own deal which is where we are now.
Crucially an amendment has gone down to water down the vote which will enforce a delay. If the vote passes it will only be the expression of parliament not the straight shoot out Johnson wanted.

I once had a conversation with my old man and he said as you get older you get more conservative.

Little did I know that at 49 i would be the English equivalent of the tea party!
My dadsaidd the same .The older i get though the more entrenched I get in the wishy washy centrist liberalism. Seems the more you travel left or right the more you get into ideological driven politics rather than common sense pragmatic decision making.

Same thing, different tweets, retweeted over and over and posted on here.

Social media is an echo chamber where something quickly becomes the truth between like minds, often when it is far from it.

That is true. That is ecxactly how we got Brexit in the first place, including this sorry mess thereafter. Slogan politics needs to get binned. And yes i include Scotland in that.

Fuckinhel, I know John Mann is a ****, but being interviewed now on Sky and saying Workers Rights are actually improved with this deal. I mean just WTF.

My dad said the older you get the more moderate you become.

Big believer in 'everything in moderation, my dad, so he was.

Used to say, if you drink in moderation, you can drink as much as you want. I still stick to that advice.

Thankfully he is yesterdays man, an unimportant crossbench peer of no real repute.

And a **** obviously

You often talk of thougtful politics and then say things like this.

He is a Labour man, a Democrat whose constituency voted 70% to leave.

Him saying he will vote for the deal to represent that vote is entirely the right thing to do.

But how the hell on earth can he say workers rights improve with this deal, just a total outright fuckin lie, Its the complete opposite.
