I disagree. His issue (made clearly if you read more than the headline) is that this was obvious months ago that the 1/4's and Club World cup clashed and the FA sat on their hands hoping they didnt reach it and now that they have they have no contingency.
Yes fixture pile up is a product of winning & teams need to suck it up, but as it stands without intervention they are due to play evening of the 17th at Villa & 20 hours later in qatar, which is obviously not possible - the losers here are now Watford, Villa and Sheffield United, who may all have PL fixtures moved to accommodate

Sadly we dont have the sympathetic press the scousers crave.Regardless of how you perceive Liverpool or the Club World Cup, they earned the right to be there by winning the Champions League. They should be able to participate in that competition without too many obstacles. Suggesting they play Friday, Monday, then fly out Tuesday to Qatar and play Wednesday is ridiculous. Unfortunately there isn't much leeway in England due to the 2 domestic cup competitions, so whatever happens, they will have some pretty dire scheduling.
Given their dislike for Arab states I am surprised they haven't boycotted it already. It's tough but that's football and why should other teams suffer. West Ham are already going to have to play catch up with teams around them as they were scheduled to play on December 20. More teams shouldn't be inconvenienced.
