He isn't our best penalty taker, but like Messi I'd be very surprised if he was taken off them unless he asks to be taken off for the simple reason Pep won't want to undermine him.

Sergio would be fine, if he mixed it up a little more. Takes far too many side-footers, low, to the keepers left. He has become a little predictable with them.

Saturday confirmed Sergio needs a break from it. Although if he is the one brought down in the box you try taking the ball off him when its under his arm !

Somebody done some stats research a while back and apparently his success ratio in the PL if not in Europe is fairly good. My impression is that he seems to hit a lot of weak efforts ( Saturday and the LC Pen shoot out /CL last season) and this gives the keeper a good chance of keeping them out. Furthermore he
normally doesn't look that confident approaching the spot. Contrast this to Yaya whom you always expected to score and indeed it would take a really good save by any keeper to keep one of his efforts out. Indeed he once boasted that Joe Hart only managed to stop one of his penalties in their years at City.

He missed one 2 years ago and never took another. We seriously don't have great penalty taker apart from maybe Gundogan, he scores them regularly.

yes. And he missed one in one penalty shootout too. Can't recall which was it.

It’s really odd that Gundogan doesn’t take them unless he doesn’t fancy it. In competitive games ( not shootouts) he has scored 7/7.
