Reality is just around the corner
As long as you recognise the FT for what it is - the Remain lobby's Light Brigade - their apocalyptic foreboding makes perfect sense.
I misread it and thought he had said "You should go to the doctor with those tactics". Might have been better advice.Lol.
Meanwhile in other Brexit news, Noel Gallagher who told the British public to 'get fcuking over it" when it comes to Brexit has revealed he applied for an Irish passport after the vote in 2016.
Apparently he did it to make his life easier touring around Europe!
Could you make it up Jeff? I couldn't.
Quite correct, blaming Europe for our really poor deal when it has no choice other than to protect its own interests is clearly nonsense. The whole Brexit negotiation was a sham from beginning to end and both sides knew it from the start. We have spectacularly failed to make proper preparations for the inevitable crash out in trading terms, better now to stay inside the EU and find another solution to the political problems of further integration. Unfortunately for the country the Tory/ERG/Farage axis looks nailed on to win a working majority so we'll have to muddle through the damaging consequences.Hmm we'll see about that. Anyone who is not concerned at what lies ahead, especially given who is likely navigating our country, is guilty of blind optimism. I struggle to see how the stated aims of the Brxiteers can be reconciled with the reality of the EU protecting its very existence.
Good thread setting out why a FTA with the EU is unlikely given the timeframe. This has been obvious to me all along but there are some on here living in a fantasy world.
No deal is still very much on the cards.
Best that Johnson gets a chuffing big majority then to respond to the EU demands in kind.God, that’s depressing reading, but no different to what a few posters on here have been saying for months.
The problem is, the truth is a lot more complex than “Get Brexit Done” and that’s the level of comprehension that most of the people wanting it have.
If on the Remain side had a Farage or a Johnson their soundbite would have to be “The nightmare’s just begun”.

Mr Hogan told Irish broadcaster RTE last week that Brussels would seek to kick off the negotiations swiftly, noting that the UK’s 46 years of EU membership created a unique context: one where Britain is integrated into the European market and in sync with its rules. “With a bit of goodwill on both sides we can do an agreement more quickly than we would do with any other negotiations around the world, which would take three or four years,” he said.

Canada+ is what he wants.
To be fair this is a bit of headline shock that is often deployed by the media.
The incoming Trade Negotiator at the EU said the below-
I'm aware of what Hogan said. My view is he is putting a positive gloss on things. After all he will be responsible for getting this sorted and he's hardly going to say 'given the position of the UK this is an impossible task' before he's started. He would be accused of negativity and dooming the talks.
It's his job to be positive but the reality is somewhat different in my view.
Define ‘Canada plus’, to be precise define ‘plus’.
The EU want a deal, over no deal.
They’re not going to cut their nose to spite their face.
