The most important aspect of Phil’s game yesterday was his defence. He tracked back constantly, and this was something we’d been lacking for some time.

Also nice to see his comment that he was disappointed at being substituted. It shows how much it means to him.

His energy and defensive work off the ball were fantastic and in very sharp contrast to what was going on on the other side of the pitch.

Can only assume that this is due to Pep finally, privately, feeling the league has gone.
Maybe, but some of it is just the schedule also. It's going to be basically impossible for him not to play a bunch with the amount of games we have coming up. Combined with David Silva carrying a slight injury, Gundo rotating with Rodri (and maybe playing more of the double pivot we saw yesterday), and Bernardo's form, it pretty much has to be Foden time.

He had an assist and hand in the other two??
He was also creating a lot of space in midfield. Sadly for some, unless it's an assist, goal or crunching tackle, you're down as not doing much in the game.

Try pointing out the work Gundogan was doing of controlling the midfield without the ball, that'll blow some minds.

And also skipped past 3 Arsenal players when setting KDB up for that shot that hit the post.

I thought he was very good - some decent defensive cover work on the left early on, yet still had a hand in the first 2 goals, and when he switched sides the shackles really came off

His defensive cover was outstanding, he was primed to press their centre back at all times and still had the legs to cover the fullback too, allowed Mendy to play so high.
