It’s a great club, whatever type of fishing you like. Hundreds of waters. What are your preferred methods and species? Hopefully we can give you some pointers on here.
Predominantly carp Dave to be honest , although I really want to up my game on the rivers for Barbel and hopefully spend the summer checking out any decent stretches close by

the big three for the nwst Prince Albert, Lymm Anglers and Bay Malton, Prince Albert and Lymm used to have compulsory working party participation no idea if that still applies.
Border Fishery near Stoke, the HQ of Bay Malton was everything i needed, though probably not hard-core enough for the BM "purists", the facilities for kids and wheel-chair users, the tackle and bait shop and the cafe are excellent but spoil you for the " "park three miles away and watch out for the cattle" treks from the old days....even older days when we caught the 4:30 am. train from London Rd and hiked to the Roman Lakes....

There are plenty of carp waters for anglers of all different abilities and with different desires. Long stay/big fish angling is there. There are easier waters too, with good numbers of fish, although waters like these can get busy. With regards to barbel you will be inundated with options. I’ve probably fished most of them myself. Keep
Posting on here and we can help you with whatever species you seek.

I forgot to add: I went wandering the local canal system with a lure rod on the 28th for an hour or so and had a perch just over 2lb in the first marina and one of 1lb-5oz in the second lock. First time they’ve been active after lures for ages after all the cold water and floods.

Notwithstanding the man-flu I went out for my traditional last session of the year. Back on the river Avon but a stretch I've not fished before and started quite well on quivertipped maggots. Had a few flirter roach and dace followed by a decent chub of around 2lbs. Then hooked something larger which fought unusually and broke surface once or twice before getting off. 90% sure it was a trout.

Fishing died in the afternoon so I was watching the bird life and saw my first live goldcrest at very close quarters in the bush next to me. It's an omen. Going to be a good year. Hope yours is too.

Have a bloody great new year fellow anglers. Best wishes to you and yours. May 2020 bring you all your angling dreams.

Just one more post @Saddleworth2 and all your breams will be spoken.
