have a look at what agggguuuerrro has now said and I await your apology.
I think you can have half an apology. I now see what you're getting at in that the "euro area" is forecast to be 0.1% lower than UK (assuming an orderly exit) - but doesn't that mean if Germany and France are lower than that then other euro area countries must be higher?

I can't find a breakdown by IMF of the individual eurozone countries.

I've still got my tins of spam just in case ;)

I have a room full bought the day after the referendum not touched one yet. As a balanced leaver I will just say i take all forecasts as wild guesses that don’t often come true so I disregard the latest from the IMF as it would be hypocritical of me not to do so. I think just waiting to see what happens rather than constant childish sniping is not on the agenda for a few on here.

not as disappointed as you when you open your curtains and see it’s Not all fucked .

or when you find the article today in the news that says the IMF are now predicting that the U.K. post Brexit will grow faster than the eurozone

experts eh.....
Yeah - I saw that

So sad that some on here will be more than a bit gutted to hear that

What we don't know is what assumptions have been made about brexit and the new economic relationship in those figures. And whether what the government negotiate will look anything like those assumptions.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe this data is based on the UK securing a trade deal with the EU

Just a reminder that the UK negotiated a trade deal with China outside of the Eu in 2014, The total deal was worth £14 billion ..... dont believe everything you are told about not being able to do stand alone deals because we are in the Eu.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-and-china-agree-14-billion-of-trade-and-investment-deals

From the Governments own website.
We are definitely leaving - you might get to a better place if you get to the point of realising, even if not enjoying, that fact

Well yes, but what kind of deal is the question could be anything from a full FTA goods and services to some sort of Canada deal. It could be one that’s ready to go in January or one that is introduced more slowly over the coming years. I guess the IMF had made an assumption on what they see as likely, we have no idea how realistic that is or how much it aligns with the governments plans.

So much wrong with this post. Why I am not surprised it has been lauded by the usual suspects.

As a member of the EU we trade with other members as if we are all part of the same country but as an EU member we also benefit from the deals that the EU negotiates with the rest of the world. The EU is a big player in economic terms and is able to negotiate better deals than the individual member states who on their own are obviously smaller. Indeed it is standard practice I believe that the EU inserts a clause into such deals that if any country gives someone a better deal then the EU deal must be changed to match.

Will the UK leaving the EU weaken the EU ? Yes, of course, it will, we are currently the 7th largest economy in the world. Why do you think Putin and Trump are so keen ? Brexit weakens a major player on the world stage.

But clearly Brexit weakens the UK more as we do not possess the economic clout that being part of the biggest, most successful trading bloc in the world brings.
We are really leaving the EU - it definitely happening

The sooner that you get your head round this and stop hankering to wake up and find that it was all just a dream the sooner you might be able to start the journey to a less bitter place

You are right in that there isn't much detail on what type of brexit these predictions are modelled on, I searched the page for instances of brexit (there were 4) and this is what popped up

* On the positive side, market sentiment has been boosted by tentative signs that manufacturing activity and global trade are bottoming out, a broad-based shift toward accommodative monetary policy, intermittent favorable news on US-China trade negotiations, and diminished fears of a no-deal Brexit, leading to some retreat from the risk-off environment that had set in at the time of the October WEO. However, few signs of turning points are yet visible in global macroeconomic data.

* Intermittent favorable news on US-China economic relations and diminished fears of a hard Brexit supported investors’ risk appetite.

* The most notable movement across major currencies was the appreciation of the British pound (4 percent since September) on perceptions of reduced risks of a no-deal Brexit. Financial conditions thus remain broadly accommodative across advanced and emerging market economies (Box 1).

* These outcomes depend to an important extent on avoiding further escalation in the US-China trade tensions (and, more broadly, on preventing a further worsening of US-China economic relations, including around tech supply chains), averting a no-deal Brexit, and the economic ramifications of social unrest and geopolitical tensions remaining contained.

The sooner you stop pointlessly saying it's really happening (we know) the shorter the thread will be. It's what happens after it happens that's the concern.

This wasn’t on BBC front page news. Or even top item on BBC Wales. *Why not?* All of the UK's devolved law-making bodies have now voted against the Brexit withdrawal legislation. “Brexit: Welsh Assembly joins Holyrood and Stormont in rejecting bill”

AMs to vote against Boris Johnson's Brexit bill
All three of the UK's devolved law-making bodies will have voted against the EU withdrawal agreement.

Nope - that is clearly an incorrect statement.

You can speak for yourself, but others - like the 2 posters that I replied to - clearly have not come to terms with the fact that we are definitely leaving.

In particular, have another read of the post from @dave_blue12 - so - surely it must be helpful to point out the fact that we are way past the stage where continued membership can be achieved so still hankering after it is surely unhealthy.

Just trying to help people to move on

You mean his post that said, "Will the UK leaving the EU weaken the EU ? Yes, of course, it will"?

You've lost it if you detect any suggestion there of "continued membership can be achieved".

Do you really think that any argument that leaving is still a bad idea, even though it's happening, is a denial that it's happening? That would be like, ooh I don't know - a German who thought it was a bad idea having Hitler as Chancellor was in denial about the fact that Hitler had become Chancellor. Maybe that's it - you just want to suppress opposition.

your not ‘trying to help’ anyone - your being smug and arrogant.

Brexit will achieve very little and we’ll probably end up rejoining - until then keep pretending you’ve ‘won’ on a forum.

Proper desperate stuff

Despite you being selective - his post still reads like he is still hankering for the EU - which is what I actually said and not what you (yet again) twist my words to suggest

What is it with this repeated behaviour of yours?? - that you reply to the posts of other people and deliberately twist their words to a) ignore the points that they make and b) (basically lie by) suggesting that they make points that you want to deflect to - proper deceitful and repetitively so.

Oh - and well done on the introduction of the Hitler reference

Fuck - you moan about the length of the thread - yet your desperate twisting of other peoples words is a key contributor

If you say so - but you certainly need some help IMO
