Fulham (H) - FA Cup Round 4 Post-Match Thread

My favourite from today’s game, was Cancelo and Bernie laughing with Fulham players on the way out for the second half. Pep caught them and was like a headteacher telling off his naughty pupils. Cancelo did not half get it telling him to concentrate. Looked like a pupil who just got caught out. Pretty funny how their smiles turned so quickly. Nice one Pep no time for that shit at this stage of the game.

Yea I thought the same lol

routine win especially after the sending off (which actually probably though the correct decision, spoiled the game as a spectacle)

thought Bernardo and Cancello played well

Garcia continues to impress (his tackling is very good)

Hopefully there are no injuries that will affect the next few games...great that sergio, ferna KDB etc got a rest

That is possibly true with regards his reputation over here but that is probably due to the insular nature of the British Press and this belief, like with Guardiola and his methods, that football over here is some how unique and much more difficult to conquer.

No doubting his achievements over here but I think, again because of the role of the press over here, his achievements elsewhere have not been celebrated but I think if you spoke to people in Italy, where I think his future income generation will come from, he was highly regarded prior to managing City.

Anyway either way I think we can agree he was a fantastic manager.
Indeed, we can.

The one aspect of his tenure with us that cannot be dismissed, regardless of how you feel about him generally then or now, was his installation of an absolute pursuit of excellence and the expectation that “only winning is good enough”. Heading such a transition is much more difficult than many realise. And without that being established and being seeded all the way through the club, the current Pep record-breaking era likely never happens.

£15 if I lived around the corner I would be there but not all of us live round the corner
I get that mate and that’s fair enough. Y general point was that it wasn’t expensive today, I get people have other reasons as well as pay day still a few days away and certainly not critical of those who didn’t go. I also don’t think he’s said anything untoward today, just a sarcastic reply to another loaded question.

That I could not agree more with and incredibly some of those players like Aguero and Silva are still maintaining those standards to this very day.

Mancini had to shift the deadwood and make a lot of unpopular decisions with players like Bellamy, Robinho, Ade etc. It set the tone for the club going forward and an ethos rekindled again when Pep came in about work rate, behaviour etc expected of top players.

Thought the whole game was played at a rather slow pace. This happens frequently when Gundogan is pulling the strings in midfield and David Silva is now in the twilight of his career. Anyway regardless a win is a win and we move into the next round. Great goal by Bernado l.

This is what is often not taken into account. The ticket is only part of it. You have to add on the travel costs, logistics getting to and from the game, especially on a Sunday and due to the early kick off possibly some food at some point. Almost 40 thousand is a great gate given all the circumstances.
I went with my 6 year old, but that's a fair comment.

This comment is why pep should shut up
Your own manager is saying your support is shit. Speaks volumes Ena

He has been saying it since he arrived,he should have said the last 2 seasons when asked, these are working class people who have followed us in 4 comps right to the end, they are not made of money

He needs to learn a bit about our history and fan base. For 35 years we were on the whole dog shit while the other lot over the road were lifting trophy after trophy. We did well to retain a hard core of around 35,000 in those dark days but to our credit we did. As a result of these dark years we lost two generations of young fans. Who wanted to support a joke club while all your mates were wearing rag shirts and basking in the reflected glory? Sure some became City fans due to their family being Blue's but we attracted very few. As a result their kids supported other clubs too. We are slowly attracting new fans and building up our fan base but it's going to take another 20 years of sustained success before we can sell out games like today.

What bums me out is he gets the corruption in our direction and that seems to inspire him but he doesn't care about the way the media slates the fans non stop,if you ask me that is where the disconnect is and why people brought bobby into it today

He had a chance to defend us today but didn't. What he should have said was, " You think 40,000 is bad?? For a game played so early, on a Sunday when transport is bad or non existent? When people are still paying for Christmas and New Year and many haven't been paid for January yet. When we have a semi final in three days time again at home. When the weather is bad and the game is live on tv. I think it is a great attendance, well done to the fans who came!"

I love the guy, he is a genius and serial winner and under him we have played some of the best football I have ever seen played in my lifetime. He fails badly though in this criticism and he has done it before. I wish Ian Cheesman or someone who can get close to him would explain this to him.
