Didn't stop me taking €100 from a muppet down here who thought they'd take Danny Healy-Rae's seat off him though :) Greens? Kerry? Pffff.
LOL... Kerry is a strange and wonderful place. All so very very serious and at the same time hilarious. Love my Kerry neighbours.

Definitely do not want to hear Rebel Songs from any politician.
Cullinane has been wheeled out to explain his actions.
This and Dessie Ellis’s mis-placed triumphalism is totally unacceptable if they wish to be statesmen rather than rebels in the wings.
If they ever want to keep the middle ground they gained then this quickly needs to be stamped out at their grassroots level.

Claire Byrne on RTÉ pounced on it.
SF trying to limit damage and make light of it, but she points out that making light of it is a problem in itself.
FF and FG to their credit didn’t overplay it but made very good points and added credibility to why they cannot entertain a coalition with SF.
SF have not apologised. Perhaps they should. Talking about a different time in our history doesn’t validate all actions in those times. That’s something SF are going to have to come to terms with.

They may find leadership in government down here a totally different experience than what they experience up north.

As I say to my kids I don't want to hear apologies. Just don't do it again please.

Wasn’t only your constituency. It happened in Dublin North West also.
These are the knuckle dragger element that we slag in Britain and it’s what SF have to shake off if they want to add the middle ground to their core base.

Eamo thats the area i am from. Its mad the local elections SF lost countless seats this they picked up everything. Crazy to think how poor they got local wise to this the mind boggles at times the turn around.

Got a mention on Newsnight on BBC too.
Surprisingly nobody seems to have overplayed it so far.
It’s like everyone is still in shock and are playing this softly for the moment.

As Eamo (i think) said previously, a vote for Sinn Fein now isnt an IRA sympathy vote....i have absolutely no love for SF, yet essentially, half the country up here voted them in....so they are currently in government in the UK.

Plus, theres this...

https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/belfast-news/sinn-fin-deputy-michelle-oneill-17728875

Sinn Fein vice president Michelle O’Neill says she has been told by police of a dissident republican plot to attack both her and MLA Gerry Kelly.

Making the announcement at Stormont, the deputy First Minister said she will not be deterred.

She added: “I have been told by the PSNI that they have intelligence that dissident republicans are planning an attack against myself and Gerry Kelly.

“These people have nothing to offer society. These people have clearly intent to attack myself and Gerry, our families. We are also aware this comes on the back of both myself and Gerry attending the PSNI recruitment fair last week.

“So let me be very clear, dissident republicans have no strategy, they have no plan, they have no progress towards Irish unity and I think this intelligence comes at a time when we have never been closer to Irish unity.

“I will not be deterred. Gerry Kelly will not be deterred. Sinn Fein will not be deterred from trying to build a better society.”

Revulsion is the reaction of most people of my generation in this country to SF, their party is built on the actions of terrorists.

We can assume it was ok for the Conservatives to be in bed with the DUP, of course.....not derailing, just pointing out how one sect of terrorism is acceptable but another isn't....
I wouldn’t expect SF to go down well in Britain. I suggest that’s why they don’t stand in England.
They don’t go down too well here with my generation either, but we live with the political landscape changes here and deal with it.
I saw a break down of their support in this election and it’s reckoned 32% were 18-25 and the next 32% 26-35.
It decreases then as the age goes up.

They have that element in their grass roots, but this election was not won on a Republican agenda, let alone support for the IRA.

I understand people in Britain can’t let that go, but we’ve moved on from that fight and have no desire to go back to it.

Younger generation in this country do not have a hang up with Britain and have other more pressing concerns.

Spot on. The missus is from Dublin and her brothers (26 & 31) voted SF, whilst her mum and dad just couldn't really bring themselves to do so, partly due to past links but also partly having done alright out of FG.

Country is moving on/has moved on, although you'll inevitably a pocket of the 'no surrender' dickheads piping up in commentary from Britain.

According to FG we were going to have tax cuts for the better off. FF seem to think we've forgotten the crash.

Give tax cuts to the better off? I'd vote they bastards out for that alone when investment in so many areas is needed. Do you have food banks there too? We are the 5th richest economy and we have millions. Seems people here don't give a fuck about children going hungry as, apart from Scotland, where the Tories where handed their arse, losing over 50% of their seats. They got voted in greater numbers in Wales and England. No matter who takes power, none of them could he worse than that lying bastard Boris and his party of self serving cunts.

I dont think there's anything morally wrong with voting SF at this point in time. They aren't representing nationalism (except silly Irisb language nonesense) anymore and they seem to have argued very good points over the past decade. Time to see now if they can accomplish anything good.

What's nonsense about Irish people wanting to be able to promote the Irish language?

I think in this area, people who don't consider themselves Irish, deciding that they won't allow that. That to me is not just nonsense but bigoted and pathetic.

We have our own language too,Gaelic and it is supported and taught in some schools. Keeping old languages alive us a great thing. Not allowing it because you're a bigot who claims they are not Irish is typical of Unionism and especially the DUP.
