Jimmy Greaves

I was a Spurs fan (no not a supporter) way back in 1961/62 when even my namesake Alan Oakes and slightly after my neighbour Glyn Pardoe, had just started their carers at City when I loved Jimmy in his early years at Spurs.Way back in those days the only type of true adoration for any player was via the papers.I will always remember Greavsie scoring a think it was a hat trick at White Hart Lane against the Rags in about 1963 in a 5-1 win !
I will always remember his debut for WHU when he scored against City at Maine Road at the Platt Lane End which we eventually won 4-2 I think.
Loved him and Ian St.John on the old ITV Saturday dinner programme when the famous saying "its a funny old game" came to light.
City fan or not I will always remember Greavsie as one of my all time heroes and a true football legend.
Yes, he was an all time great. I was at the MR game you mentioned, it was a real old time English footyfest, with mud. Great days.

Not seen the documentary but Jimmy was a phenomenon on the pitch. The most clinical English finisher I have ever seen in my years as a football fan and spectator.

That goal where Ronnie Boyce volleyed it straight back past big Joe must be a contender for the most infamous goal we've ever conceded alongside the Gary Crosby one at Forest !

Recorded this and just finished watching it this morning..

Really enjoyed it..

What a fantastic player this guy was.

In an era when defenders could chop you in two he stood head and shoulders above others..

Not only was he an unbelievable goalscorer, he was a very decent footballer too..

His achievements still stand the test of time today, after 50 years..

A true legend..!

I honestly thought Greavsies passed away years ago. Shocked me a bit when they announced he's on hospital.
