Is there anyone who knows if this is true. Now that we have lodge an appeal with CAS, UEFA cannot stop us from competing in next season's Champions League. I believe that there was a club who had been barred from the Champions League, but had to be allowed to compete pending the investigation by CAS, and their verdict.

Its up to the applicant to ask for a suspension. City or CAS haven't confirmed whether City have or haven't asked. Soriano indicated in his interview that City want it sorted soon the feeling is that by not asking for a suspension it will focus minds on getting it sorted soon instead of it dragging on after the 2020/21 ECL starts Getting it sorted soonest suits City in clearing their name and so not affecting transfers and sponsorship deals etc

From the Independent:
Ceferin was asked whether he had confidence in the rigour of the club financial control body (CFCB)’s investigation and judgement in the City case, which is likely to be challenged by the Premier League champions at the CAS hearing.
He said: “As a lawyer I respect the system. The system we have is the investigatory chamber and the adjudicatory chamber and then we have CAS in Lausanne.
“For some administrators it’s a problem if you have an independent body. For me it’s a privilege.
“I have not spoken with any of the members before or after and didn’t see the case, before or after.
“As much as I’ve seen now, Manchester City have gone to CAS and let’s wait for the decision.”

Can't see a problem with any of those comments.
Just as long as we remember he is Rummenige's stooge, godfather to Agnelli's kid etc

He didn't speak about it?

Cerefin had a sit down with Martin Lipton from The Sun in Dublin last year.

He was directly quoted re punishing City after these hacked leaks.

Horseshit from him and the world knows it.

It's reported that he's said FFP may change in some manner at some point.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/uefa-chief-says-ffp-rules-134903262.html

While the City case awaits appeal, Ceferin suggested there could be changes in the complex FFP process, which has faced criticism for making it tough for newly well-resourced clubs to break into Europe's elite.

"Its too early to say how it will look in the future but we are thinking about it and will probably have to adapt," he told reporters.

While the system was created to stop clubs going into debt, critics believe it may have created a closed 'elite' and Ceferin said change was on the agenda.

"It has been very successful as a system, there are almost no losses in European football any more and now we will probably have to adapt to different times," he said.

"Our experts are in discussion but changes will not happen very soon, I assume."

Well there's a fucking surprise!

What is he up to tolmie?

He is trying to distance UEFA from the IC and AC.

Funnily enough, Soriano did exactly the same recently in his interview...

Cerefin acknowledges ("as a lawyer") the legal process, recognising also CAS in the equation.

For me, this is MOST telling. He is legitimising CAS.

That tells me a deal has already been worked out/a verdict of City's acquittal is expected, which would certainly explain City's bullishness behind the scenes.

Whether that be under due process, 'irrifutable' evidence we have deliberately held back, or both.

We're being played. City aren't being done here.

Coronavirus may well effect CL participation.
I know it's speculation, but if our ban is reduced to one year and next year's CL competition is not held.
Does anybody know if our CL suspension would in those circumstances transfer to the following year?

No - they'll just kick us out of this year's competition when we're 4-0 up against Liverpool in the final with 5 minutes to go!

I think we would fight a one year ban, can't see the cl being cancelled even if there was a deadly virus about still

Tariq Panja goes on to say that "the current members on the CFCB bodies will be extended a year. But have not chosen to replace those that have left. Perhaps a hint that in a year's time FFP will be reformed or perhaps replaced?".

I guess FFP will have served its purpose by then if CAS were to uphold our ban.

I believe that if CAS overturn the sanctions on City UEFA will have to make fundamental changes to F(ix) F(ootball) P(ermanently) because City may decide to cleanse our reputation of any damage by challenging the break even rule in the ECJ and part of what we have on Liverpool and others may be readily available documentary proof of the involvement of certain clubs in coercing UEFA to enact clearly unlawful regulations to make it impossible for City (and any others who might be taken over) from competing financially and thus through player recruitment. If CAS uphold the decision of AC these measures may be further down the line as pursue the case through the Swiss courts, and then inflicting damage on Liverpool et al may be used to show UEFA as corrupt, biased and unfit for service before the coup de grace in the ECJ.

It's strange that Ceferin admits that the FFP rules could change, just a couple of weeks after they have banned us. Something doesn't sit totally right with me, and I'm more and more positive that good things will come out of this for us. Does anyone else share my sentiments?
