What are you lot seeing/hearing/thinking about the FA cancelling matches or playing them without fans? My son and I are headed out the first full week of April for a number of fixtures among several sides -- I hope. I've read up a bit but having a hard time keeping tabs on everything -- I work the stock market here in the USA and it has been a freaking shitshow for two weeks.

I think that it will probably need a notable escalation, and government advice to do so. A month is a fair while yet to be able to predict.

If you're lucky, you'll have to stay for longer!

Who do you have lined up?

They had it over there ages ago,i hope our game down here isn't behind closed door s in april,i am looking foward to it
I am already reconsidering our plans to come back in late May before going to Switzerland for the missus’ best friend wedding. Funny enough, I was planning to go to *at least* our last league match, and then probably a FC Basel or Young Boys match with some Swiss mates, but it is looking like we may not be able to travel at all, much less attend the games.

Nothing official but plenty of talk. That is a month away. I'd say there is a good chance that games could be behind closed doors at that point. I guess there are two sides to it;

Lots will just stay away from big events acting on their own initiative. ON the back of this many events and one of's might get cancelled without being forced to. Football might or might not follw suit.

If the government act then it is hard to see how any big events coudl take place. That would be all or nothing.

I think the first is highly likely so the second was less likely and becomes less so.

When is the latest you can decide? Have you already payed for it?

Looks like we might have two doubles in the space of 4 days. I was going off it being one doubling every 3 days, but this is already quite an acceleration.

Its tricky to get an accurate doubling number with quite low figures and daily updates. will bounce between 2 days on a spread sheet and 4 due to overlap of figures. I had to dig out the numbers for each day as there doesn't seem to be a data source for it.

So 3 days is a good figure to use at the moment by the look of it at the moment.

this is relevant here too :)

Palace/Burnley (my son is a Palace fan -- I know, I tried, but he has been since he was six!), EFL Trophy final where we can root for Pompey to smash the li'l rags, Millwall/Boro (friend of mine is in Millwall mgmt) and then City away to Soton thanks to a generous bluemoon friend. And hoping City have a home QF CL match that week too. And then on off days, some military history stuff 9War Rooms, Tank Museum, etc).

We need to decide by the end of the month, so we have some time. And luckily we have refundable airfare (we don’t usually go for the more expensive tickets but I purchased them last month and so had an eye on the outbreak, knowing it would be prudent to make it that much easier to cancel plans).

It’s just disappointment, but many will be dealing with far worse.

Sounds good. All the tanks will be on the streets by then, so you won't need to find the museum (we have a tank museum?).

Portsmouth should bring a fair few, I'd think.

I can't believe we're debating whether killing 3.5bn people would be a good idea.

Not sure ‘idea’ is the correct word to deploy. I’m not willing it, but it would give the planet some much needed breathing space, especially the oceans.
At any rate, it’s probably best to move on from that particular discussion before other less reasonable lurkers join in and it expands in to the unsavoury, which will require thread clean up

We can close this thread as the great sage has just spoken.
President says coronavirus "will go away

can you imagine the amount of deaths that would have occurred in the U.S alone if he had been president when the aids/hiv outbreak took hold in the early 80s

yeah it's a shame to not be able to come over, things might become clearer in a few weeks

We can only hope, for everyone’s sake, both from a health and financial perspective (though, we might already be past the tipping point for the latter).

The amount of people at work that say “There’s only 100 cases out of 70 million...”

Come back in 6 weeks! Let’s see what it is then!
