When I’m at home that’s what I do after every shit.

Rather than smearing shit all around my arse crack with toilet roll leaving traces of shit there until the next time I wash; I wash it clean, properly. The way we wipe our arses must be the most unhygienic thing we do in this country, it’s fucking foul what we do!
Yep. Having become well acquainted with washing my arse with water after living in Thailand and Dubai for 20 years, I find all this panic buying of bog roll truly bizarre.

Of all the things you couldn't possibly live without, toilet roll has to be right at the very bottom of the list. Just have a shower FFS!

Think of those of us who have to have private wanks, evading our Mrs in the process.

I've struggled with the same puzzle, Trev. Surely Died divided by (Died plus Recovered) is the mortality rate?

There's three possible explanations I can think of as to why that is not what's being reported. The first is that maybe they assume there is a much larger number of infected people who are not in the system at all?

Another possibility is that if you are going to die, maybe you do so early? I.e it takes longer to recover than it does to die? So a higher proportion of the active cases recover, as time goes by.

The third is thst they are just lying so as to not cause complete panic.

But as I type, in Italy, 720 cases have outcomes and of those, 197 have died. That's 27%!!!
Yeah, it just doesn’t seem right at all. There are of course plenty more cases we don’t know about, but if they are factoring that into the mortality rate I’d be surprised as that would be pure guesswork. I’m just going to run with 6% because I don’t really see how it’s not that. Of the 41,105 active cases, 15% are classed as “serious or critical”. 6,153 people currently in that state, and you’d expect 2-3k won’t make it, taking the death count to just over 6000, out of just over 100,000 cases. It’s surely 6%? But I don’t claim to be an expert. I just know that out of the confirmed cases, 6% are dying.

It’s not 420 cases out of 127m because the 127m haven’t all been exposed to it.

That’s like saying “well 420 people got sunburnt in Yokohama yesterday but nobody in Tokyo did”, when it rained in Tokyo all day.

People acting properly under instruction from governments is why this hasn’t become more widespread yet. At the moment it’s contained in many places in the world so we’re not seeing how bad this could really be. But we will if people just flippantly go about their life like normal.

your analogy would work if the virus was purely in Yokohama and not Tokyo but it’s not.

Do you not get poo all over your hands when using water though? What do you do just spray it into your bumhole? Not being funny just interested. I use toilet paper then wet wipes in my bum cleaning routine so never used a bidet.

Surely everyone did this, either as a student or like me if you weren’t one, did it when you first moved out of your parents?

I was never a student, but this has been something I am familiar with having spent time living in thailand since 99.

Makes sense to me have a morning shit then shower after much cleaner than wiping.

No why would you? Spray it away what what would you be sticking your hands in for.

It works because it’s relating it to exposure.

it doesn’t

so from my perspective out of 127m people in a country I am visiting 420 have had the virus so statistically it seems a pretty safe place to go.

exposure to what? What are you talking about ? You don’t know in the uk or japan or anywhere who has it in joe public so you have no idea whether you are exposed or not, it’s just a decision based on stats. You have to follow the advice wash your hands and take precautions.

so based on risk you would not visit northern Italy or Iran as your exposure is likely to be greater.

the only way you won’t have exposure at all is if you know you don’t have the disease and you stay in your room and see nobody until it’s gone. Until then we are all exposed to a degree .

i see it like this-
1 contain the virus in the continent where it was born 'Failed'
2 contain the virus to countries that become infected 'Failed'
3 contain the virus to countys within the country 'Failed'
4 contain the virus to towns within the county 'Failed'
5 contain the virus to to sreets with the town
6 contain the virus to houses within the street
7 contain the virus to rooms within the house

So only optons 5 and 6 and 7 remain, and as daft as it seems the isolation of the virus is easyer as you get to number 7 providing you isolate

I only wanted one pack of 9.
Apparently if you wrap yourself up in the toilet tissue it protects you from arseholes who think hoarding toilet roll can help in this situation!!!

I agree, I would recommend for those interested in learning how things can go badly wrong, to read up on the Spanish flu pandemic that began in January 1918. It is suggested the disease started at the major troop staging and hospital camp in Étaples in France, 100,000 soldiers passed through the camp every day, and then, when the war ended, the troops scattered to every corner of the world.

I’m saying cases to population is not a figure to talk about because not everyone has been exposed to it yet. It’s only been around a few months.

You could take the virus with you to Japan and make that number much higher over there. Imagine what the people of Japan would think of you for doing that.

Just spoken to family in Thailand and got bollocked for joking about face masks, they are taking it very seriously over there and this relative works in Big C (a major supermarket chain over there) and unlike the panic buying here they told me no one is turning up to shop and it is deserted or "like a temple" as they put it.

Also they are being temperature checked when they arrive at work and anyone over 38°C are being told to go home and get checked out.
Unfortunately for them they won't get paid unless adoctor confirms they have ot so will lose pay.

The Big C?

at least the being paid thing in this country is sorted to some degree unless your S/E,,TBH if it does get that bad i dont think people will be to arsed about paying their mortgage or other utility bills, they can wait i come first

Neither was I but I moved out at 18 and did this a few times between the ages of 18-21, when I’d forget to buy toilet roll.

Very difficult to know where the truth lies. I'm no conspiracy nut, and don't believe info is suppressed or the govt are lying. Having said that hysteria in the media to an extent engineers govt response. Boris is fairly fond of himself and his career, so will be acting in his / its best interests. If he slightly overplays the danger of covid, then he protects himself from appearing on the front pages in front of a pile of dead bodies with his 'don't worry' quotes coming back to haunt him. If we all get a bit panicked and the virus turns out to be controlled within a few weeks he can then claim a political victory for managing the UK response well. Not a pop at the current PM btw - I'm sure whoever was in No 10 would be forced to play the same game.

The "turns out to be controlled within a few weeks" bit, is just dreaming I think. This thing is highly infectious and global stats show each person infected is infecting between 2 and 3 others. With 500+ infected already in the uK (as there must surely be, based on current numbers and incubation periods) and of those we have no idea who or where any of them are, the genie is unfortunately well and truly out of the bottle. Nationwide exponential increase in numbers is IMO completely unavoidable now.
