Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

NHL in north America have just paused the season I have just read. Cant see it being long till the same happens here.

The competition is in 3 months. The next internationals games scheduled are in 3 weeks.

Why do you think they need to make a decision today?

There is nothing gained by making a decision about the euros straight away.

They need to make a decision promptly, I didn't say today but at the same time it can't be next week or 10 days time.

And the consequence of stopping the champions league, the regular leagues etc, it will all impact the euros.

The euros is a competition that hasnt yet happened so cancel it, that then allows focus to be on the present problems across world football and aid in finding ways to deal with the immediate to short term.

This is only going to get worse. If leagues are suspended there is no way they can run the euros.

Jesus what’s wrong with you over there? Said as an American whose country has fucked this whole thing up.
They’ve underfunded the NHS to such a diabolical extent over the last 10 years that it’s currently so stretched, their only plan is to manage the rate at which people get this to try to delay the peak to the warmer summer months when the NHS is under less pressure.

They’ve even put a call out to retired NHS workers to jump back in and help out.

But at least they “got Brexit done”. ****s.

They are predicting a best case mortality rate of 1 percent for this... Assuming 10 million people get it, thats 100000 dead. Its not seasonal flu.

We'll see. But bear in mind that no "expert" is going to lowball their forecast on this because there is nothing to gain. If they underestimate they can never be "experts" again (doing a Michael Fish) but if they exaggerate and the actual figures are lower, they can acclaim the efficacy of the "precautions" taken as a result of their dire warnings.
