Democrat US Presidential Nominations

I am likely crazy but hear me out. Biden was middling for the most part when he was on top of his game. He has lost a step, or six, since then. He appears to be showing early signs of alzheimers.

We may see at some point around the convention Joe, or a representative of his, take to the microphone and say while he is honoured to be nominated he can't accept it for reasons.

At that point, the truly favored candidate whether it be K. Harris or even Tatiana Millouse von Pantsuit come parachuting in to "save" the party instead if giving the nomination to the guy that got the second most delegates in the primary

You can't say Hillary doesn't have a scenario like this in the back of her mind.
This sounds scaringly plausible :(

I've not been on this thread because I've been a bit pissed being one of the few people on here looking at the more important bigger picture (health, not money) and feel like the 'chickens have come home to roost'.

So, now, under #45 OR Biden the US citizen is going to have to (excuse the pun) 'pay through through the nose' or bend towards 'socialism/ communism' to bail out its business/ people.

Laughable.

Anyway, I saw this clip yesterday.

I think Dore's delivery is what irks people, as he can sound like a loon. However, if you look past that particularly, his message is sound.

He's basically a more emotionally involved Krystal ball. As I've also been saying, with them, "vote Blue, no matter who" has been a poor strategy because you'll never get the right things done under 'incrementalism'.

Welcome back. In the spirit of the times I won't even say I told you so.

What I will say is that now that Biden will certainly be the nominee, even progressives who dislike him personally, aren't excited by his policies, whatever, should absolutely still vote for him, even if you're operating purely out of self interest. If you care at all about progressive policies being passed in the United States over literally the next 30-40 years Republicans cannot be allowed to nominate and confirm another Supreme Court justice. They just can't. Look at what happened with Obamacare in the courts, which was saved only by John Roberts benevolence. Exactly the same thing, but with a different result, will happen to any significant climate change regulation, healthcare overhaul, free college, etc. We can't allow it to happen, and the only way thats the case is swallowing your pride and voting Biden into office.

I don't wanna talk in circles, but I can hardly see Biden being supported by all progressives. Some will see it as you, but as many will feel, they'd be removed the current ragged puppet for a less ragged one. The powers behind the presidency will remain the same. just remember #45 AND Bloomberg, just to name two, have donated to both parties for their own agendas.

What about the hundreds of billionaires with super corporations raking in billions more that we don't know about?

I know you mean well, as others, but you've been subjected to the same actions and talking points from both parties for decades. Fear is not easily shaken.

I'm of the same thinking about the UK as well. Money can and will be found when it needs to be to serve the needs of emergency, but the word 'socialism' disappears at that point. Nobody asks 'how do you pay for it?' then.

If you want to say "I told you so", you can do.

As I've said before, there's a debate to be had and other states to vote afterwards.

The debate, on Sunday, is going to be super interesting with Sanders giving Biden stuff to work on. I thought it was a stupid thing to do, but now I think it's quite brilliant. In a 2 hour debate, mano a mano, how's Biden going to remember all these facts and figures??

Sanders is going to keep the process honest and may see a bounce at the end of it, especially with the ongoing health crisis playing into hands.

It was a wise move from Sanders. He knows he’s lost the race but he wants to give Biden a chance to allow Sanders (and his supporters) to support Biden as the nominee once the dust has settled.

But I do enjoy your surprising hot take from it anyway.

So, two things have changed since Sanders 'lost' the primary election; Sanders added a fair few delegates from his California win (count at 88%, I think) and his M4A argument has become more pertinent.

The response from Biden & #45 has been poor compared to Sanders more direct focus on the the working class and how they survive what's going on.

I think Sunday's debate is going to focus around this area, quite a lot, so we'll see how Biden handles it.

With the rust belts to fight for, with their deep working class roots, nothing is a given and it's Biden's to lose.

You better hope he can last two hours without forgetting his shit under pressure.

He will HAVE to talk as there's no one to coast or hide behind.

A few days back I said it was time the US had a third party. Kim Iverson thinks the same, but I wouldn't agree on her examples of 'unified' candidates at the end.

It's funny as I also said a few days back 'Rising' had me reevaluate my own politics.

I don't consider myself right wing at all, but I must understand and have some sympathies in their argument.
