Was told today that if they had ordered pubs/clubs/restaurants/cinemas etc to close the insurance claims couldve closed Lloyds of london down where as leaving the pubs high n dry would be less catastrophic.

Dunno if true but makes sense
wouldnt surprise me mate if that was the case, strange how there saying keep away but not enforcing, these places do have insurance against this,if it is the case then the insurance should take the hit even if it closes them down

Summer GCSE and A-level examinations have been cancelled.

What that means has been left very unclear and open ended at the moment.

But what a time for those who were about to sit them. They’ll have to show some good resilience and hope that their future places at college/university are secured still.

There is well established data that private and public schools over estimate predicted grades whereas state schools tend to under estimate grades.

This is the worse thread on the internet.
I'm on loads of different sites covering various topics.
NONE are as paranoid and doom mongering than this one.
Some people need to take a break reading/posting for a few days.
For your own metal health as well as others...
if you think this is bad have a read of the daily mail

Just cancelled a birthday stay in the Cotswolds. Disappointing as it maybe, personally. It's nothing to the kick in the balls UK tourism is getting right now.
I sincerely hope everyone whose livelihoods and health is affected at this time, make it through to the other side.

My daughter is doing her gcses in may.
Already been told they will have to use her mock results.
She got terrible results in her micks.
But since then her results at school have gone up massively...

Worrying time for her.
As it is for a lot of people
I’m an Examinations Officer. It has not been decided what will be used yet. Whether that be predicted grades or previous mock results... we are awaiting confirmation.

I'm a teacher and can tell you that it's very, very unlikely that they'll take just a moc result on it's own. It's more likely to be her target grade awarded or an average of the target grade and the moc, It's in the schools best interest to get better results and moc exams aren't 'proper' exams and most are only part exams so they cant do that. There will be massive amounts of appeals as it is. Also likely that any child who WANTS to take them and get a true result after all their hard work they will be able to sit a 'proper' exam in January. My two were due to take GCSE's and 'A' levels this year

Don't want to be rude but these sort of 'heard off a mate' type posts aren't needed. They have already said anyone with pandemic insurance can claim so that blows that theory out of the water.

So many experts
Do you need to be an expert to understand this problem? It's like a disaster movie. Outbreak or an asteroid heading to Earth. The science is straightforward but the solution is in part not even scientific, it's about creating social distance.
