Football is just like all the other sports...they can't just say "Oh well no sport for the forseeable future lets meet back whenever". They have to just say "maybe we can start in May..." and then when that deadline passes, try and organise it for a few months after that.
Tennis is rearranging Roland Garros for September, F1 thinks it might be able to do Baku onwards and go through their summer break, Rugby hopes to finish the 6 Nations in October etc.
None of them are likely to happen if the government are right but you can't just pack up and come back in 18 months.
You have been taking a measured stance with this issue of Covid-19 generally and also on this thread. There are all sorts of dire predictions and possibly some of them will unfortunately happen & in that case football won't be in the top 100 things anyone will be the slightest bit concerned with.
it could also be the case that countries will get on top of this relatively soon with a combination of mitigation, new treatments, warmer weather and so on and things might start to gradually improve. In that case everything can be looked at with a view to starting up again.
I hope the latter is the eventual outcome. I don't give a fuck if Liverpool win the league.
