COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Sports direct are essential workers, they are having a fucking laugh, a quick phone call from Boris should sort them twats out in.

I thought this was lockdown. It doesn't seem like it is because many employers outside of the retail sector are still working.

The government keep turning the screw a little tighter but what we need is a nail, and hammer and just do the job. It's almost as if they are still trying to perform a controlled infection of the herd whilst keeping the at risk safe.

We needed the sledgehammer. And got an elastic band. Trains transporting this thing between each and every city; planes still coming in and out of the UK I cycled past Tesco this evening and every till was open so people standing cms apart. Unfuckingbelievable that this government can't put out laws, not recommendations. I did several home visits today checking on some of our most vulnerable pupils. I knew what I'd see; but something nagged in my head that maybe, just this once, the idiot swathes would heed the advice. Not a chance. Mingling, drinking, smoking weed, all a big fucking laugh. And here comes our PM, "you must only shop if essential" but we'll not mandate stores to make sure you stay apart so making the whole thing utterly futile. This was such a great opportunity. And he blew it. Idiots need telling.
At least he has started on.the correct approach. Powers to enforce need Gov approval as does most other measures.
Spain's legal system allowed its Gov to take charge of police, army and most of its overnight emergency measures so control was immediate.
Incidentally police still gave us 3 days to warn rather than fine and army are there mostly as a border protection measure I think (can't verify cos we're in lockdown).

It’s pretty essential that when you venture outside for your one session of exercise you have access to some towelling Slazenger socks.

I didn't say I believed them but it's interesting that they chose to report a doubling of new cases.

wasn’t suggesting you did - I just get irate when I read reports of their media almost gloating that they’ve stopped it now and how Italy have had more fatalities just as a PR exercise to cover up the fucking mess they caused in the first place after vowing first time round to clamp down on this. Releasing the true data on hospitalizations, fatalities and observations would have been invaluable to the scientific community.

The rules are half assed. First I feel for the poor people who still have to work for non essential services in public shops. What are Sports Direct thinking?

Also it sounds like some others are still working like on building sites etc. My brother works in the world of ‘online shopping’ in a warehouse and he’s still going to be mingling with hundreds of people a shift just so people can buy nice candles, fluffy towels and other non essential items.

This is not going to work clearly, expect this to be ramped up in a few days.
It's been tightened but they left open half the employment sector.

This tactic of gradually tightening of the valve tells me that they are still following their initial policy of a controlled infection.

If they had wanted to reduce transmission to the bare minimum they would have done so. This is not an oversight. We're still following the mitigation strategy, they've just tightened it somewhat. The death toll will end up higher than it otherwise would have been because of this. The public are ready for a lockdown. There is no excuse not to do it.

Think you are OK with your itv and suma they have given three months grace.
Good luck Jay I am fukin dreading it so I am taking every peice of car paperwork and id I have.

And a lot of bags : )

I knew there was some leeway but didn't know they'd given us three months. I suppose if the itv/mot places are shut there's not much we can do!

My wife has prepared me a little bag with my passport, nie, empadronamiento, a note, hand sanitizer, spare shoes, spare clothes, shopping bags, gloves and a bin bag :)

Companies are not helping the situation either, the company I work for has had meetings all day about what it was going to do, and by the end of the day all it had decided was that greed is good and as it is the end of the financial quarter and bonuses are riding on it then they are staying open . The workforce don't want to be there but we need the job and so guess what yep we're in tomorrow .

Can it be done from home?

LOL
Don't think some of the lads and ladies in the UK know what it's like yet or what lockdown means

Confirmation that children can still be passed between separated parents.

And now Michael Gove says that children cannot be moved from parent to parent and should remain with whichever parent they're currently with for the duration.

This is complete chaos.

I can see trending on twitter that Mike Ashley ha declared Sports Direct an essential industry ( they supply exercise equipment ) so telling employee's they are expected at work and building sites are all open with briefings taking place in packed canteens ( see #shutthesites) - fucking mental.

How are people not getting this.

Can it be done from home?

Sports equipment can be bough and sold without people having to go work or buy in a shop. Staff are well within their right to challenge it.

Construction, happens on site, so at least some of it will have to happen outwith the home. Won't be long till those too are shut, but till then some aspect of economy is still ticking over.

It really is that simple, go to work if it is absolitely essential , i.e can't be done without going to work. Don't, if it is not. And (employers) don't fanny about interpreting essential to suit a narrative of going out.
