You would hope this starts to really hit home now, last Wednesday the figure was just over 100, so in effect in the next 6 days the number has quadrupled.

I guess it's highly likely that tomorrow we will see the first day where there are over 100 deaths, sadly there are some terrible times ahead.

I didn't realise that this lock down actually meant anyone can go out washing their cars, people out cutting their front lawns and parents out with their kids playing football.

I know Boris said we can exercise but i thought the idea was to stay indoors if at all possible.

87 isn't terrible in comparison to Italy/Spain. Italy were getting 200+ per day from this point. We're about to see the difference between lockdown v carry on in the next few days.

I'm not surprised and I expect it to rocket over the coming weeks. All the morons packing out pubs, clubs, beaches, parks, cafe's, and restaurants to come yet. Loads of people still crowding together as if it's a bank holiday near me.

I just plead with everyone to please do the right thing,this is terrifying for everyone with half a brain doubly so for the old and vulnerable,it is hard to get your head around what this is and what might happen if this is not stopped,everyone has a responsibility to do their bit,don't wait for it to kill someone you love before you act

It’s going up though every day, it might be at a slower rate then Italy or spain, but it’s looking like we could match them for deaths going forward

Be careful with comparing death numbers directly,every country has come at this differently,different standard of healthcare etc

It will not be permanent because of the mutation rate. There's already more than one strain I believe. Coronavirus is an RNA virus and mutates much faster than human cells which are double stranded.

About 50% of viruses are RNA viruses and a lot of them (Measles, Mumps, Polio) have permanent vaccines and permanent immunity, even single stranded RNA viruses.

The 4 coronaviruses we already have had about give you pretty long lasting, but not permanent immunity, but even if you do get reinfect the illness is greatly reduced. There's no reason to think SARS-CoV-2 will be much different.

London cut the transport down which means the ones running are now jam packed which totally defeats the object.

All about the bottom line pal. Bit like our place RM management managed to make a mockery of the term key worker today. Business as usual both indoors and out. People from different households pairing up in vans clearing an overcrowded office of mail and the daily percentage of messages from our commercial partners. Some poor souls today would have found a leaflet advertising funeral plans on their doormat today.

Just been reading that Iran has tested 38 million people. This may explain why they were the big story a few short weeks ago but are now trailing behind Italy and Spain.

Following the testing, 74,000 people were sent to health centres, 8,000 were hospitalised, of whom 3,000 required intensive care.

This does beg the question how a country reeling from economic sanctions can get it's act together when more prosperous countries can't.

I would ignore any data out of Iran and most countries run by dictators as they are just running PR exercises. Did we ever get any news about all those families that were welded into their apartments in China and left to rot? Thousands upon thousands of unreported deaths as many were treated like cattle into cramped medical centers (loose use of the word there) ; not seeing any of the photos being released by the government; they're actually using the purported death count to their people as a national victory compared to Italy and other Western nations.

Yes could do with finding that bar chart thing which had the daily death numbers on it where the UK was tracking along at the exact same rate but 14 days behind. I'm sure we should have had the massive spike by now.

It's expected to go up and it will go a lot higher than 87 sadly. But it is worth looking at projections and trajectories because that will guide us, but not by any real degree of certainty, where we're heading. We've said it a lot but these next few days are crucial. From what my expectations were about 4 days ago it's not been a terrible four days in terms of numbers.

We all know this Karen but unfortunately we have shit loads of utterly thick, selfish deluded wankers who don't watch the news or listen to any of the warnings. They have a " Me and my kids will do what we want, nobody's telling us what to do!" attitude. I've no idea how we got to this low base level as a country.

3 days ago we were dead level with the growth of the pandemic in Italy.

Since then we've gone from no difference to a 33% difference.

We have had a good few days now, the big question is how bad will it get before the lockdown hits the figures in 3 weeks time.
