They tested everyone in Iceland and discovered 40 different strains of the virus. This could mean rapid virus mutation and could indicate that the chance of finding a vaccine are non existant.

I'm in asbestos removal by trade but the company I work for also have a demolition division. We ain't got any asbestos work currently so I am working with the demo lads on site.

The site I am on at the minute is in Birmingham city centre about 5 mins walk from The Childrens hospital so it's a pretty busy area.

I've been uneasy about going to work for a few days now as my wife is classed as high risk because she has Ulcerative Colitis and is on immuno suppressant medication.

I got a text last night after the PM's speech to say it was business as usual today and all sites remained open. I reluctantly went in this morning as unfortunately money talks as my wife is a self employed hairdresser and has stopped working because we have 2 kids and nobody to look after them and obviously hairdressers have been told to stop work.

When I got on site this morning it was as if nothing had been said previously. 20 blokes sat in a canteen, 3 toilets between everyone just a breeding ground for germs. We had a safety meeting and were told to keep 2m apart at all times and that was it. Crack on lads.

I thought fuck it and have gone on self isolation for 14 days and just take the hit of being payed £94 a week. Hopefully the government see sense and shut these down so people can get the 80% wages.
Money talks, death walks.

When this eventually settles there will be umpteen reports and all, without exception, will say that the UK allowing flights in/out was tantamount to murder. I look at the skies every time a plane passes (no, I'm not from Burnley) and wonder how the fuck it's still happening.
it was very stupid to just let anyone come In,mind you we did go with the herd immunity plan, sigh

gross neglect i think the words are what you mean,,its fucking disturbing that since the cold war a biological weapon or natural virus like this could happen, and the plan is wash your fucking hands, Boris will either be a hero or end up before the courts

A lot of talk about how this will prepare us for future pandemics both medically and how society reacts.

Surely the focus should be on prevention and not cure and tough sanctions on China and their disgusting wet markets and animal rights (or lack of)

Will we as a species learn anything from this or will we turn a blind eye for €$¥£ again?

It’s perfectly possible, although unlikely. You cannot say it’s impossible.

Surely we did, either by our actions or our behaviour as a species.
It's highly unlikely. I obviously can't predict the future with certainty so I won't say it's impossible, I'll give you that.

And this virus wasn't created by humans. It developed in animals and then it passed on to humans, where it may have mutated a bit from the animal version, as viruses often do. We did not create this virus lol, I get that we're anthropocentric by nature but it's really not our work. Being the hosts for this virus we have helped spread the pandemic among ouselves, yes, and human actions are the cause this virus passed onto humans.

Advice needed

My nephew has a job where he delivers water for water fountains etc, most of his jobs are to hospitals.
His partner and 6 year old Son have severe asthma and he'd obviously concerned as his company are not shutting down and he's worried about picking up the virus in a hospital & then giving it to his partner & children.
Should he self isolate, he knows he'd get SSP but would he get help with his rent ?
Sorry for asking on here but he tried phoning 111 but didn't get anywhere
We have told all staff at my school that anyone who has asthma or has direct family (ie in same house) with asthma that they are not permitted to enter the school. No fannying around. Paying the rent will be the least of his worries if, God forbid, he brings this thing into the family home. Isolate now, SSP and stay safe.

you cant do anything more than admire the Spanish, when they say your inside they do just that, ive had the cams on in tenerife where we regular go and not a soul abouy, seriously i cant see it happening here there are far to many knobheads
My old man is in the south of spain. Probably the best place for him tbh. They're militant at the moment so he's pretty protected and just walks to the shop every now and then which he says is guarded and they only let one in one out sort of thing and everyone has to wear gloves. Everyone is keeping their distance too.

Ok, that’s fair comment on your second point. I expressed myself clumsily. By our actions or behaviour we have, at the very least, allowed it to proliferate. Is that about right?

Only Taiwan did it correctly and only then because of their experience with SARS when it proved the Chinese peoples Republic (CCP) were totally untrustworthy.

It couldn't be that difficult, could it? Test ten random people at a tube station, test ten MPs, test ten blood donors (they're just asking the usual "do you feel well"), ten air crew, ten people in a town with few confirmed cases, ten in Brum, ten in Manchester, ten in Liverpool, ten in Ambridge (high risk as the pub is still open) - all obviously just sample jobs and places - and you'd have some clue as to prevalence.
Just a hunch - you didn't study statistics or any form of randomised testing at school.

It was because human killed and ate animals they had no need to eat,the chinese and obsession with eating weird things in unhygenic conditions passed this to the world

That might give you a clue but I highly doubt it could be called a scientific representative sample. When they get the 3.5 million test kits that are on the way then mass testing for who has it and, importantly, who has had it is a game changer.
100 tests for a clue. Precisely. At present we are clueless.
