Even if we get it under control if we still allow people to move as freely as they did then one quick outbreak and we're here again.

tragic news as always. But looking like they won’t reach 800+ in a day now.

it's 6100 cases, not 4500 though. Bit more than last 2-3 days. But still not the record for 5th or 6th straight day. That's good, they are stabilizing. and not rising anymore.

So the Govt are giving you 80p in the £1 but then taxing you on that? So they’re not really giving you 80%?
Yes, people will get 80% of their usual net pay. Actually slightly more, due to their personal allowance.

If we paid them 80% of their pay gross, then they'd be earning more than before, which would be somewhat paradoxical.

No, that's not true.

We will have tests that take only 15 minutes to isolate people who get ill, we will have drugs that are tested to help treat them more effectively and stockpiled to treat people better, we will have ventilators piling up, we will have medical professionals who are ready for it and have learned how to treat patients.

And most importantly we'll have a public who are ready to stay at home if they get ill, and will wear masks and avoid unnecessary social contact.

COVID-19 will never be this bad again. With a good track and trace program thanks to immediate testing, we should be able to smother out any new outbreaks as they pop up.

You've got way more faith than I have, people have short memories and globalism and the travel that comes with it will continue unabated after this crisis is over.

No they wouldn’t.

(people earning up to £2.5k per month pay less than 20% tax on the income as the basic is 20% and they have their personal allowance)
