Personally I just don’t see it as “for so long”. They went into lockdown themselves and declared it as definitely human to human after 20 deaths and 200 cases and notified the WHO weeks before that, I’d be interested to know the numbers for other viruses.

But we discussed why Trump pivoting to use the term Chinese Virus after he’d been using its official designation was certainly dog whistle. As I say, even he has given up on that for now.

Not all diseases have a geographic locator. SARS didn’t. Swine Flu didn’t. AIDS didn’t.

I'd be cautious about relying on the law for definitions.

A husband could legally rape his wife until about 1995 because the law didn't class it as rape.

I conceded that Trumps use of the word Chinese in relation to this epidemic was driven by ulterior motives even though initially I didn't see it as such. His opinions shouldn't however deflect the blame the Chinese should have for their reaction/lies to the situation.
