COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Asthmatic diabetes high blood pressure and a smoker, 52 years old, had phlegm on draught and a cough which is comical, when I get going people are stunned, lying on my stomach helps beyond belief, spent best part of 2 months in turmoil, but I struggle every year and it’s a level above, two kids had a cold for a day,

Stay safe mate and if in any doubt, pitch up at A&E and demand to be seen and checked out thoroughly.

As I understand it, once you show symptoms you may have incubated it for 7 days. So 7 more days until you are clear. 14 days in total for you.

If a family member catches it off you today, they might show in 7 days and need a further 7 days to clear. Hence 14 days from now.

Not sure if that helps?
Cheers it seems 14 days if your a family otherwise single 7 days.

I wouldn’t rely on a surgery’s admin being 100%, mate.
As others have noted the information on those under 70 who should isolate for 12 weeks is vague to say the least. Would have thought local surgeries passing on that info directly was a good idea myself. Those 2 examples were from different surgeries one in Ashton one in Droylsden wondered if anyone else had received one.

No one has ever said this.

This is such a frustrating part of modern discourse which makes it impossible to have a proper national conversation.

WHO and governments say something like "the death rate under 40 is 0.012%" or that no one under 59 has died in the UK and then some anonymous doctors says "its not true young people wont get ill I treated ome last week!".

There will be people from every single demographic that die from this, but we're putting special precautions to protect old people because their chance of dying is 100x that of a 30-40 year old.
Only saying this as I know you’re a stickler for accuracy, but the death rate in 30-40 is 0.2% (only twice as bad as the population average for Flu) then as you get older:

80+ years old 14.8%
70-79 years old 8.0%
60-69 years old 3.6%
50-59 years old. 1.3%
40-49 years old 0.4%

So over 60’s have 18x worse prospects
Over 80’s 74x

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, just using the current stats and to be fair to Karen, I’ve heard quite and few (and see on my timeline a good few more) young people saying they’re more bothered about missing out on summer holidays than they are bothered about becoming unwell.

They keep urging that we need to flatten the curve but Italy have a full lockdown, almost double our number of ICU beds per capita and still did not flatten the curve anywhere near enough to prevent people dying due to the being no treatment available. So we have very little chance of achieving what we want with these announcements. We are in a global health crisis and they politely ask the nation to not go to the pub. They need to crack the whip, they need to be aggressive and forceful as many people are not going to start listening until they see the fatalities. But by then it’s too late. It’s like failing to discipline a child properly and they then just ignore you and carry on because they know there’s no consequence. They need to MAKE people comply not just hope for it.

I really feel for people here.

It’s not as though there’s other work out there to get something else.

The Government HAS to step in here. The one thing I can reasonably predict is if a section of the population are sent home unpaid for any length of time then they'll be marching on Parliament before you can say guillotine.

One question

Why has there been no news reports or filmomg from any hospital?

Because I have been told tonight Bolton Royal hase turned two wards into ICU only and they are full.

Now whether that is completely accurate I don't know, but I do find it strange that we are being shielded from any knowledge of what is happening in our hospitals

You now know another official covid 19, confirmed today, three other family members untested and presumed as having it, met friends two weeks ago in pub scenario and her work has confirmed two cases and 25 in self isolation. Been feeling usual shite this time of year and no where near feeling well but apparently I’m ok to go to work, even though I’m not.

sorry to hear that mate. Hope you recover soon.

Yes i still don't understand not closing school, the answer wasn't clear other than kids don't seem to be getting ill

Children are likely to carry but not suffer as much or be at such a risk of death.

The teachers on the other hand.

Though they seem to be neglecting those children with underlying conditions. I teach 3 with heart problems, 1 with chronic asthma and 1 with a compromised immune system.
