7 days ago 27th March there was a large spike in no of new cases in a single day from the previous day. I expect there will be a large spike today in no of deaths as a result, possibly around 700-800, sadly.

In all likelihood we are likely to surpass Iran and China today for ‘total no of deaths’ overall making our small island 5th in total behind France, USA, Spain and Italy.

Good news out of Italy and Spain that they appear to be on the downward trajectory. Also mentions other European countries seeing the same trend, hopefully this will be us in 10 days or so. By the end of April I'm hopeful that the lockdown will be loosened and businesses can start too open again, with sensible distancing.

The Tories are making a big push to become “the Party” of the NHS and if that happened England would effectively become a 1 party political state. That’s far from certain of course,‘starting with Hancock trying to deliver 100k Covid 19 tests per month.
I don’t know which part of that is the funniest.

Truefully I have no qualms what they've done so far
A couple off fk ups,but you can only take advice from the so called experts in there fields, who now are bitching who did their jobs right and who didn't,This is a one in a lifetime disaster and we will learn by mistake and maybe bring all departments under 1 umbrella to stop the bitching.which probably we will get again in the not to distance future
Think Hancock I stepped up to..

The 4,000-bed NHS Nightingale will open its doors to patients today - less than two weeks after work started on the giant specialist coronavirus field hospital.

With 80 wards, the temporary facility at the ExCel Centre in London's Docklands is now the largest critical care unit in the world.

Soldiers, carpenters, stewards and volunteers have worked around the clock to ensure NHS Nightingale could be ready for use in record time.

Worth a read

And a big thanks to our owner,Sheikh Mansour

Not the biggest news as I think we were aware there was a lag on death times and actual recorded in the numbers but seems to be all over the job.

https://www.england.nhs.uk/2020/04/total-number-of-covid-19-deaths-in-england-by-date-of-death/

March 31st showing actual 96 deaths on the day in England here whereas the official release had it at over 500. The majority of the numbers must be coming from previous days.

I don’t suppose if ultimately matters but probably worth noting the deaths aren’t actually occurring over every 24hr period they give us.

Also saying first death occurred a week earlier than reported which is probably bigger news.

That is a very salient point. The number of deaths announced each day isn't the number of people that have died in 24 hours. Some of the lower numbers a week ago were a big under reporting of the actual numbers so the daily total is just an indication. Probably the weekly total is more accurate. Even though each death is a personal tragedy to be statistically relevant the numbers would have to be doubling or more on a daily basis.

If you take the Chinese figures at face value, I’ve got some brilliant magic beans for sale. Top quality and really good value.

I don't think the time for judging comes until post the event really. I do have an issue with some of the communication though and the continuous use of vacuous soundbites, like "guided by the science" or "no xxxx is better than a bad xxxx" (just insert whatever the current issue is). The good thing is I think this will get rid of that though - it works in the political field when both sides are trying to spin as much as possible. It doesn't when the other side is the general public and key workers and it really is a matter of life and death.

Although I don't think they'll be right either, it would be interesting to know what our numbers would have been like had we followed a similar lockdown to what they did. Their initial figures and rate of infection that they reported wasn't dissimilar to what anyone else has had, it was the suppression of the curve through their lockdown. We couldn't do what they did in terms of the scale and severity of it or at the same speed (probably thankfully, to be honest)
