It's indicative of what the general public think due to the style of reporting we get .Why has he not talked about his own teams players on 200k a week? or the fact what he claims for a MP

Think there was a press release from hmrc before the virus which said over 300 footballers and 30+ clubs under investigation for tax avoidance, majority will be in Premier league no doubt.The tax thing is a good point, and theres no doubt a lot of tax is collected from players. That would be an interesting thing that could be modelled quite easily by the clubs or HMRC.
There's probably quite a bit of tax avoidance going on but this is a very valid point.

It's a matter that should be between the club's and their players.
What would look bad, and with good reason, would be to keep players on full pay and then furlough other staff and take tax payers money to pay them: that would be akin to tax payers subsiding players wages.
Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to consult their players regarding a combination of conditional reductions and deferrals amounting to 30% of total annual remuneration
@premierleague
Pro footballers, just like you and me, are workers. They're not 'role models' or 'ambassadors' or paid by the state."combination of conditional reductions and deferrals"
Weasel words as usual, not inspiring stuff
And how much was the whip round for Scudamore again? £20m is peanuts in the grand scheme of football finances.Just got a notification on my phone saying Premier league donating 20m to NHS.

Yes they get eye-wateringly obscene wages and yes, they could probaby afford to take a temporary wage cut. But demanding they take one is wrong.

I am being stupid but arent players contracts between the player and the club ? Of City are happy to honor the contract and the player is why should the premier league get involved. Now if some clubs cant afford to honor the contract between player and club, it's down the player and club to sort out .....isnt it ?
Is this pay cut just to help out the clubs they play for ? Is the money than going to be paid to the lower paid staff within the club or allow the directors and shareholders to take their wage and dividends ?
Or is it ti be used by spurs, Newcastle etc can come out of the furlough scheme.
Are other well paid professional people like bankers etc being asked to do the same ?
