As a statistician, I agree you can't clarify the situation until your Retrospectoscope is available, but equally, I would say you can only compare average day to day death rates for now, also hospital and ICU admission rates.
Not new case rates which depend on the testing regime.
As a statistician, would you be good enough to let me know when Liverpool are mathematically certain to win the title? ;-)

USA close to 2000 deaths today. Belgium looks a big hotspot too, only Spain and Italy have more deaths per million. 403 deaths today for the country of their size is huge.

Turkey has world’s fastest rising infection rateincreasing by more than 3,000 a day, reaching 30,217 since the first case was confirmed four weeks ago,

I live in Newton Heath and it's as Labour as you can possibly get. Funny thing is that Boris seems to be well liked round here, regardless of his political persuasion.
That explains your username. It was like an episode of the walking dead last time I walked around there, and I believe it's gotten a lot worse since?!

;-)

It’s almost a philosophical question. If you applaud Johnson in a Labour stronghold, and no-one is around to hear it, did it make a sound?

I don’t care ric - i supported our pm.
I don’t live in Worsley and haven’t for ten years by the way. I was in Ancoats last night.

Difficult to call. Were it not for this COVID-19 shite then I would have said Boris had a good chance of taking more seats if he delivered on his promises such as 50,000 extra nurses and various policies to "level up" poorer areas. And it did look like he was going to really try to deliver.

But COVID changes everything and all bets are off now. Much will depend on how the UK fares in all of this compared to Italy, Frsnce, Spain... even Germany.

Boris (assuming he gets through ok) will be our pm for the next 9 years.

I think if there is 1 person in the Uk who doesn't mind there being a pandemic then it's Kay Burley.

All journalists are the same. They were the same in the financial crash and brexit. They want to be superstars .

They don’t give a shit. They use words like crisis , unprecedented the worse it gets for everyone else the better it is for them . We will always need news in times like this and more news than normal and some of them absolutely relish inflating their massive fucking ego to be the self appointed expert who must take the limelight for the country.

burley,
Morgan
Peston

are the three worst.

edit: it won’t be that long if we are locked down further for peston to use the phrase , if this goes on much longer the economic impact will be harsh and sources close to me have indicated there could be a run on the banks .

Seen a few posts about her, what’s the issue. Passed me by.
She just seems to revel in it. This morning she is talking about 14 transport workers dying. Now anyone with feeling will know that these workers are selflessly working helping key workers get to work and that a number of people in any profession will have died whether it be transport workers or DJ's but she asks the bloke thats on "why are your workers dying?" like he is just leaving them to die. She is callous and unfeeling.

There was a time when The Day Today, and Chris Morris in particular, was a parody of such people. Alas, they now seem to use that as a benchmark for what constitutes an acceptable interviewing style.

Agreed, don't listen to Morgan, (surprised anyone does) but Burley is a disgrace, whether she is being directed by editorial is a different matter.

Fair enough, thanks
