Everything should have made the GOP win. Major urban areas went from 180 polling stations....to 2, while rural republican areas were almost unaffected.
Absolutely fucking disgraceful that. The GOP are trying everything they can to prevent democracy.

Just catching up on what happened last night and I think last night was the worst I've seen him and thats saying something.

I mean a TV station actually cutting away from him and calling it propaganda is 'pretty bad'. Might even get through to those 'we love our freedom and the constitution' types.

The republican speaker went to vote wearing all of this, while telling the public it was completely safe, there was "minimal risk of exposure" and there was no reason to not hold the election as normal.

People in Wisonsin will literally have died to make sure the GOP don't win this election. And some republican voters will have died for nothing because their lot thought they could disenfranchise half the population to steal an election and still lost.

It's hard to understate the importance of that Wisconsin result.

Wisconsin has been the hotbed of radical GOP tactics, they tried stack the deck of all future elections in their favour and to strip the governor and attorney general of all powers when they lost in 2018 before their democratic replacements came in. It's gerrymandered to fuck, they have insane voter ID laws and the GOP activists on the supreme court just made one of the most disgraceful and unjustifiable decisions in American legal history to help them win this.

Everything should have made the GOP win. Major urban areas went from 180 polling stations....to 2, while rural republican areas were almost unaffected.

And they still lost.

Quick question, is everything set in stone for the November election or can they still mess around with the voting system?

The gerrymandering was bad enough in 2016, especially as it was racial gerrymandering, so they won't stop as anything for the 'win'.

Trump cannot force the states to reopen their businesses, even if he declares an emergency.

Private enterprise means exactly that. He cannot force private businesses to do anything. Even with the Defence Production Act, he can't force any company back to work if they aren't actively producing equipment for defence. If Trump declares the country good to go back to work, they no longer require equipment for defence, hence, where is the actual emergency?

Unless of course he means the actual emergency is that Billionaires are loosing money?

Based on what? GOP were twatted in 2018 and keep losing on things he’s endorsing (look at this key state and their vote yesterday for the State SC):

Turnout is all Dems need, they already have the numbers and Trump going off on one like last night just further increases the chance of high turnout.

Why are you so confident of a Trump victory. I really can’t see any way that he wins.

edit: seems turnout isn’t as key as I thought:

Corvid will, of course, disproportionately affect the poor and the black community, which might well affect the democratic vote. If he was cleverer than he obviously is, you might wonder as to why he responded so slowly.....

It's significant, not just because he's endorsing him, but because Biden and Bernie have set up 6 joint working groups on major policies where Bernie staffers will get absorbed into Biden's campaign and shape his policies.

That's going to have a massive impact on the "Bernie Bro's" feeling like getting behind Biden.

Thanks, I'd not seen the details, but it sounded like a major change in position.
It's Sanders' last chance at making an impact, and both seem to understand that there is a bigger picture.

?????
He will probably announce which states no longer need to be declared an emergency. It will then be up to the state governors what they do. They will no longer be entitled to the financial aid that applies to the emergency.

The governors then have the choice to do as they feel fit.
I agree with you.
My point however was aimed at his declaration of being the ultimate power. I read your previous statement as a defence that he had, if emergency powers were declared.
If, as you say he claims a state is no longer in emergency, then neither does he have a claim of authority to instruct a governor to open up against their wishes.

I was just pointing out how illogical Trump’s train of thought is, if indeed he thought about it at all.

Yeah you must be right. That's why he always has the two highest level medical scientists speak and answer questions at his briefings.

You brought climate change into this discussion. Then denied doing it. Then use it to propagate a lie.

Congratulations, earlier today some twat was claiming the earth was flat and vaccines were dangerous. I thought he was the most idiotic person i had read in a long time. You have just beat him to the top of the idiot pile.

GD

out.
No. I didnt. And I didnt deny it. I explained it, twice in fact. Third attempt to help you understand:
I am not discussing climate change. Nowhere have I expanded upon that topic beyond those 2 words.
We were discussing what else Trump coukd have done. My response to you was that he should have engaged with scientists earlier and heeded their advice so as to enable himself to make informed decisions. However, he did not do that and the reason he did not is because he is anti-science in his beliefs.
The reason he has to be anti-science (note also I say has to be) is because his stall has been set out in this regard because the scientific community contradict and belies his belief that climate change is a hoax.
Ergo: the difficulty he caused himself in believing science regarding one thing and not the other manifested itself in him downplaying this pandemic until he actually said it would vanish like a miracle.
Now is it clear enough to you that I am talking about CV and his woeful response to it, amd not climate change?

Also, can others indicate whether I am making myself clear on this please just so I know?

You’ve explained yourself more than is necessary. GD seems to be taking the dax route of quibbling over and questioning minor details to detract from the point.
