The ban on fishing is ridiculous. When I used to do a lot of carp fishing I'd often go for days without seeing anyone. I reckon I'd be safer there than my local asda. Same on the rivers, if you saw someone on the bank also fishing, you wouldn't set up next to them, you'd walk a few hundred yards away so not to disturb them. Even match anglers are pegged 10 -20 metres apart.
Same goes for golf. I'd often tee off in a four ball and not get anywhere near anyone else till we all got to the green. Mainly because I didn't hit too many fairways. Social distancing while playing golf would be a piece of piss.
And the ironic thing is most anglers and golfers tend to be sensible and responsible people, who are most likely to obey the rules.
If you're missing your golf or fishing you have my sympathy.
Let's hope they lift the ban soon
The fishing ban is driving me crazy. I never see a soul when I fish, in fact I avoid people. One of the types of fishing I enjoy involves walking the canal bank throwing a lure into likely looking spots. I do the exact same walk now every day but can’t take my rod. It’s infuriating. Fishing is also a big money sport which supports thousands and thousands of small businesses, whether they be tackle shops, bait companies, fishery owners, etc. They’ll be going bump one by one.
