With all the spare beds in care homes but the same overheads, how long can care homes be viable?

(I am assuming homes with Covid cases are not admitting new residents. )
Upwards of £200 per day they charge the NHS. I think they'll see this through. It's not like they'll ever be short of punters.

the vast majority of care homes are private upwards of 80%. A lot of them are owned by wealthy private equity groups for the reasons you outline

nobody mentions that though when care workers don’t have the correct ppe .

I think you missed the earlier distinction. At the match, on crowded public transport to the match, you are close to a limited number of people, and all will (by then) be wearing masks. In a crowded pub, people are coming and going - you could pass or be passing dozens of people in an hour, and drinking through a mask is a little difficult.
Straw with a one way valve poking through the mask. I am looking for £1m for a 10% share in the company and 90%of all profits will of course be donated to the nhs.

Another day showing that the reproductive factor (Rn, originally R0) has flatlined with another 4,500+ new cases.
Surely even Whitty, Vallance and the other members of SAGE can now see the truth of it?

Went to B&Q today overheard people saying certain shops are no refusing to take things back for refunds even within 28 day period as it maybe infected, even if that is defected etc.
Sounds iffy. I mean, the things they sold you may have been infected in the first place. Or are only the public capable of being infected and warehouse and shop staff are immune???

There are a fair few saying similar but I have no idea if there is any substance in it. Everything has a conspiracy attached these days.
Its just idiots and twitter twats.
No one of any import will have any truck with it.
It’s been looked into by people who know about these things who say the conspiracy is utter bollocks.

Currys stores are now closed so online refunds by voucher are no longer possible and consequently they will only honour cash refunds with cheques - forcing their self isolating vulnerable customers to visit a bank to pay them in. How very considerate.
You can post a cheque to the bank George.

It takes the total number of COVID-19 patients to have died in UK hospitals to 18,738. That is the lowest weekday increase in the last three weeks - since 2 April

NHS England said the victims were aged between 31 and 100 years old and that 16 of the patients - aged between 37 and 92 years old - had no known underlying health condition

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavi...-in-uk-hospital-deaths-since-2-april-11977645

some good news at least,hopefully,maybe

According to each home nation's health authorities, the number of deaths in hospitals now stands at:

  • England - 16,786
  • Scotland - 1,120
  • Wales - 641
The figures for Northern Ireland have not yet been released.

how long have you been furloughed? Has to be a min of 21 days.

Roght. So if I’m right if people were furloughed 30th March that would mean Monday would be within the 21 days? Accounting for the bank holidays?

So what happens then? You haven’t worked for 4 weeks but not eligible for furlough? Does your company have to pay you? Seems a lot of companies are starting to go back and I’m wondering if there is a reason here.
