Just in Time procurement.
It's a disaster for medical equipment.

A lot of care homes small businesses - the social care authorities commissioning them certainly won't be using JIT, who does for low value item?. The type of PPE they are short of isn't normally used either.

It isn't anybodies fault unless you expect social care authorities to stockpile stuff they don't normally use. A lot of the Gov £1.6b first traunch to Local Authorities mainly aimed at social care is going on extra hours and increased PPE costs.

Absolutely spot on. Plus murders within own family groups, that we have already seen evidence of. Evictions will be off the chart, as sadly private landlords will have no sympathy and major mortgage companies have already stated they can't support non payments beyond June. I have a close friend that was employed by Thomas Cook as a pilot. 6 months out of work and recently got a job as a British Airways pilot, now likely to be made redundant again. Tragic.

All that pisses me off is the deflecion of blame, by care home owners, to the Government without challenge by the blamestorming press.
Journalistic intellectual rigour = Zero.

Can anyone explain how during ‘normal’ times care homes source and buy their own PPE. Why now is it the Government’s fault that they have insufficient amounts.

Because unless you haven`t noticed these are anything but "normal" times. In fact I`d say they are absolutely fucking abnormal times.

They finally let out the confirmation of tests via Twitter:

3 days figures to reach 100k tests. Capacity yesterday was supposedly 73k yet only 43.5k were used.

Apportioning blame is not going to solve anything. I have worked in global procurement in the past. A simple analogy that may (or may not put some perspective on this). Sadly I am a smoker, which dependant upon recent research may be a good thing. I go to my local shop, less frequently obviously and ask for 20 B&H gold. The shopkeeper works out his sales and orders stock accordingly. If I went in tomorrow and asked for one million B&H he obviously would not be able to supply. Not excusing the shortage of PPE but world demand is currently off the scale, and key manufacturing countries are saying fuck off we need all we can produce for our own.

your explaining supply and demand over the counter, how about were going to have a problem so lets scratch our heads and do fuk all with a 2 month warning, no shortage of raw materials or labour just the brains are missing to put it together which really is not that hard versus the universal credit nightmare they designed

It was in the news (From a Panorama documentary) the other day that, they hasn’t topped up their emergency supplies of PPE even after warnings from their suppliers. They hedged their bets saving money by not buying it and it’s unfortunately backfired. Sounds like incompetence to me.

If the shopkeeper had been warned that the biggest threat to his delivery chain was B&H shortage, then, yes, he/she should be duly criticised.

It's a living nightmare.
There is seemingly no end in sight either.
Stay safe everyone.
Go out as little as possible.
Don't give the virus the fuel it needs to spread.

he's talking pre virus then during virus

I think that`s obvious to everyone.

During a Global pandemic I would expect the government to mobilise the country so as to produce what we need.
Thousand`s of companies large and small have been ignored when they`ve tried to notify the government of there willingness to help in the supply of protective mask`s or the material to make them.
The government start by saying it was more dangerous to wear mask`s. Now it has changed to mask`s don`t offer much protection.
I think when eventually the dust starts to settle this government will be held to account over the lack of quality PPE and there decision to not advise on the wearing of mask`s.

Because it suits.

I’m not particularly interested in politics so most certainly not a “Tory” point of view, but what is the fucking obsession on tv and by the media with all this revisionism, hindsight etc in attempting to just blame the government for everything that is happening?

It’s just fucking weird, they didn’t create the virus. Of course there have been mistakes made, but surely we should be trying to move forward rather than backwards.

Like this morning, again it’s all about the care homes and accuracy of death figures, and will we be top of the list. Why does it matter? Again, no other country is reporting accurately as far as we are aware so why is it so important? We know it’s horrific how many are dying in care homes, but it’s not the governments fault.

Then they now move on to British Airways, wailing about the proposed redundancies. This is just the start. What can we do? Absolutely fuck all. Why don’t they just discuss the view that it’s going to take fucking years before air travel gets back to whatever kind of normal that normal is, and consequently how the fuck can they have all these staff sat doing fuck all. It’s shite, but that’s what happens after times like this. “The government should step in”, here’s news, it fucking can’t for fucks sake.

Apologies for the rant at this time of the morning but it’s just so fucking negative, it’s pathetic. We need some positivity, it’s just giving everyone a reason to be depressed.
