Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

“A growing number of Premier League clubs are open to playing the remaining fixtures at neutral venues but with the threat of relegation removed.“

What’s the point?

It will soon be reported only Liverpool are going to play there games as the last option by football authorities to get the season done

I think most of the i won't watch it brigade will watch it,i am desperate to see the boys again but only when it is safe for them and their families, same for everyone involved
what I hope happens is that nobody goes back to sky or bt and invests in a private way to watch it,let's take the chance to ruin them
I agree. No one wants behind closed doors but it looks like we have no choice. Like everyone I have hated the greed shown by the Premier League and UEFA.
But there will be a point when it is safe to play and it will inevitably start back with no crowds. I have supported City for 52 years and I am not stopping now. I have eight close family members who work in the NHS. Most of them support City and, at the right time, they also want football back.

Palace Chairman now pushing for resumption of the season. Seemingly unaware his manager as a shielded/vulnerable person (over 70) has to stay in his house :-)

Loads of fans will continue to pay or sign up for these games, they are as bad as the greedy clubs.

Shirley players have a right to refuse to play, what can the FA do if someone doesn't play,
fine them for not wanting to risk their lives or their families.

I tell you what, I used to think he was a proper gobshite, well I still do actually but that vid changed my opinion about him. He did tell it how it was and didn't say what most press and media have been spouting.
This is the vid, worth watching if you've not seen it.

Don't change your opinion of him one bit mate, I've never seen anyone lately throw as much vitriol & bile towards us then this rotten piece of human shit. Towards our Owners, Club and fans. He's a Cùnt..

Fuck me how desperate are these ****s at the FA and premier league to get Liverpool* over the line?
What next?

Only Liverpool* allowed to play their remaining games.

Not sure if this has been mentioned on here as I cba looking through 900+ pages, however with the World Cup in 2022 starting in November. Why don't they look at this from a different perspective in that have a 2021 season and a 2022 season running from January to the end of October each year. This may also allow the end of 2019/20 to be completed in December subject to health conditions and allow to be an enhanced pre-season for 2021. Then after the World Cup in 2022 start the 23/24 season earlier say at the start of July. Just a thought

My.brain hurts.

I like the idea of a “summer” league.

Start the 2021 season in jan, could do the euros Nov.
Then start 2022 the following jan with World Cup in Qatar December 2022.

Can't honestly see that happening. Certainly not the entire season. Maybe up to Christmas, unless this "second wave" actually happens. If it were to happen, the game would end up drastically different. I'd imagine quite a few lower league clubs would go out of business.
