Running thread

Only a decent walk today (maybe a bit of bike this evening) as I will be the doing the remote version of the Tatton Park 10km tomorrow morning.

New route to try from my house with lots of long winded ups and downs (I may have bust my lungs by the halfway point thinking about the inclines).

Very much hoping for another personal best (which I would be confident about if the actual park run was on tomorrow).........

45 mins at "conversational pace" as advised by I think @Stuuuuuu round the Dream at 7.30am.

Beautiful morning, sunny and that lovely "fresh" feeling.

I feel fucking ace.

Give the body what it needs and it repays you.
Never really thought about it like that but it makes perfect sense.

Still won't put an end to the amount of supping I do mind........

I had a change yesterday and instead of daily 5k I went for a walk for 2 hours, guess I must have covered about 6 miles as never stopped and kept up a reasonable walking pace. Thoroughly enjoyed it, just “me time” thinking about fuck all but taking in the lovely surroundings. Funnily enough legs are more drained today than usual, lol. Just off to Heaton for my 5k in a few mins, will be taking it very easy in this heat today.

Thoroughly enjoyed Heaton today, was a beautiful morning, touching 21 degrees at 10am, and as much as I anticipated it being too busy it was actually ok and most people were pretty respectful. Took it easy and surprisingly still managed 27:30, which is about a minute over what I average, yet could have carried on and done a 10k quite easily - wouldn’t use the terminology of “not breaking a sweat” as I was piss wet through, but certainly not particularly out of breath. Going to choose a day next week where I do a 10k in Heaton and see what time I can post.

Get it out mate, do some hills on it and it’ll help with the running, will be better than the running for you while you have the hip pain.
Dug it out, tyres are knackered I think. Haven't got a clue where to start with bikes either. Might have to wait for the local shop to open up and take it in.

Just gearing up for a run in an hour or so. Went and did a bit of unstructured sprint work 3 days ago and the legs a bit sore still.

9 ‘sprints’ over 2 kilometres which took 6 minutes 2 secs in total. Something I clearly need to work on as I was flagging by my third sprint. But enjoyable for a change.

Had a few curtains twitching, seeing some mid 40s bloke sprinting up and down the pavement.

Get tyres inflated and just go out for a gentle ride, check brakes are working first though!! Once out go through all your gears seeing if you’ve any issues then take to shop, Halfords are already open if you need them to do anything.

Good luck and enjoy.

Pain in my hip today so didnt go for the C25k, did a slow 5k walk this evening just to catch the last of the sun and at least get out of the house. Aiming to do the C25K starting Monday.

Definitely thinking about tying together running with getting on the bike, got a 2011/12 specialised road bike in the garage collecting dust which back in the day was decent spec. Will dig it out tomorrow and see how its looking.
Running and cycling compliment each other and I have been doing both now for the past 25 years. I started as a cyclist competing in time trials and one winter decided to extend the training by taking up running. The following summer my Times improved and I beat the hour for a 25 mile TT for the first time. I then started running more and progressed to marathons whilst still maintaining the cycling, but to a reduced amount. So on yer bike!

Everything in moderation. I enjoy the beer more after running but not the other way round. Reminds me of the Triple Hundred Challenge. Drink a 100 pints of beer and run a 100 miles in a 100 hours. I've never done it though and I don't anyone who has.

Never mind the running, I consider myself to have been a decent drinker in the past, but doing 100 pints in 100 hours would be fucking tough.
