Why are they getting primary schools back first?

Aside from the fact that your education is more important the older you get, surely keeping a big group of 4 year olds to stay two metres apart would be the hardest of all? I mean, how big are them fucking sandpits these days?!

Totally agree if kids are going back it should be senior school kids

Wonder if I can get a government grant for an electric bike?

I cannot afford the £500-£1000 they cost and have to travel all over Manchestr for work, normally on buses.

in a nutshell, yes. What can possibly go wrong

And what sort of fuckwit thinks it's a good idea to tell people they should go back to work at 7.00pm the day before it should happen?
That was the most barmy thing about it. 13 hours notice to get ready to go to work again for hundreds of thousands of people.

It’s also only five days before payday for many, and many will not have any money left before 15th but have to find the money to pay for transport to and from work from tomorrow morning onwards.

Not to mention Reception and Year 1 and the least hygienic of all the school kids!

That is what you take from that seriously?

If there is a deadly unknown virus going round with no vaccination at this present time, there is no way I will be taking a walk down to the the park or beach or mixing with other people when it is not necessary to do so.

There should be no need to listen to government advice on common sense actions, it’s pretty straight forward. If people take the above as they can now mix freely and have a long holiday then they are in for a shock in the near future.

If you’re young and healthy you can do all the things I’ve said relatively comfortably without too big a risk (deaths for youngsters is percentage wise tiny) and within the law.

I’ve been working all the way though this and not at home. It’s good that I can now take the same risks in my private life as I’m forced to in my place of work.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: "I want to be as clear as possible: social distancing measures are still in place. Lockdown hasn't been lifted and we all still need to play our part in stopping the spread of Covid-19.

"You must still stay at home as much as possible and keep a safe two-metre distance from other people at all times when you are out. Everyone must continue to work from home if they possibly can.

"You must not use public transport for any unnecessary journeys. If you really have to travel, please avoid rush hour.

"We still have a long way to go to defeat this virus and we have not returned to life as it was before.

"The Government has set out a gradual approach to bring the UK out of the current lockdown, carefully monitoring the impact at each stage. This is essential for avoiding a disastrous second peak that could overwhelm our NHS.

Does anyone know how R0 is calculated? I know it is complicated but I can only see information about what it is and why it is important. It doesn't appear to be a simple relationship between the number of people who have it confirmed today compared to the number of people who had it confirmed yesterday (although I imagine that plays into the calculation) Does the UK figure that is being banded about include the higher R0 in care homes and hospitals? Eg if it is 2 in those places that will skew the countrywide figures higher. Conceivably we could go above 1 if we include those but still be below 1 in 'general population'.

Really felt it was all arse backwards this weekend with Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland having their statements before the PM, Boris should lead and others can tweak to suit themselves should have been the way.
They've done this since the start, not just this weekend, the PM/government should have insisted on it from the start.

last I heard it was 0.6-1 in the general population but 2-3 in care homes

Clear as a bell for me and pretty much what I alluded to earlier. First step, see if it spikes, back to lockdown if it does.

For those who don’t understand Raab is on breakfast TV across tomorrow morning and Boris is taking the evening Q and A. It will be clearer for those of you by tomorrow night.

Let’s see what happens. I hope to god the fucker stays away but I have my doubts.

Once the genie’s out of the bottle, there’ll be frig all chance of getting it back in, especially in this country with the cretinous right wing media egging dissenters on. No way will we go back to a lockdown unless the death rate becomes absolutely catastrophic

I expect that they think the people that run companies are intelligent people who understand what is needed. There are plenty of companies currently trading and haven’t needed to be breastfed because they aren’t stupid. Stop being argumentative and trying to manipulate what has been said
Lol, yeah that definitely summarises people like Mike Ashley. There definitely won't be tons of bosses who will do the absolute bare minimum they are forced to, while trying to do even less than that. They will definitely all care about those employees they never previously a gave a shit about while they exploited them in every way they could get away with.

For the record, I've been working this whole time with a boss who is a good guy so we've been doing everything we can, but is naïve beyond belief to think everyone will be like that. If that was the case then we wouldn't need employment laws or guidelines for anything, because apparently companies are all ran by "intelligent people who understand what is needed". It's not being argumentative, it's common sense that you release the guidelines on how to open your business safely before you let people open their business.
