Me too. I've asked a mod to unban him from this thread. We had a tiny spat but I'm genuinely not bothered and never wanted him banned. I didn't report him either. We've exchanged DMs and all is fine. Water under the bridge etc. Any chance @Ric?
The thread ban was removed yesterday mate.

I’ve been perplexed at what we’ve done throughout all of this.

I still can’t believe we didn’t properly lockdown hard in April, only being allowed out for food and medicine. When I said it at the time people were telling me it would be too hard for people, but it would have been a distant memory by now.

And I can’t believe we’re having the relaxing of restrictions at this stage. Far too many people are still contracting and dying from this, and it’s barely going to take much to nudge the R above 1.0 again.

Spot on, I think things will get worse before they get better with the turn of events in the last couple of days.

Just looking at the number of new daily infections (3403 not sure out of how many.tested), was said on itn news last night that France were reopening in a similar fashion after reporting 450 new infections surely this is where we should be at before we start to soften (our already soft) lockdown.

Our daily infection numbers (if link below is accurate) don't look very promising in getting anywhere near the low hundreds in the next few weeks/month.

If I've completely misread the situation by all means let me know.

Questions

Universal income for working uk residents ? Furlough extended, need to target at people not universal

Shielding once time set by gov is up ? Those written to by gov have been protected, need to keep it the same for now, keep shielding

Media

Businesses who can't contribute to furlough ? Certainty for now, more info to come
Can't protect every single job

Care homes, many about to close their doors, funding not getting through? Furlough and loans are available to them

Mortality in different age groups taken into account for those going back to work? Workplace guidance includes health and safety advice,if someone feels unsafe they can contact health and safety, employer needs to do risk assessment for each worker

Virus affects more by age but there are the other risk factors as well that have to be taken into account

Why is death rates higher than was initially modelled? Without action it was predicted to be 500,000 so we are under that (clearly because we have taken action bit disingenuous that and repeated twice now ,we have not done well by any measure deaths wise)

Relatives being able to be with loved ones as they pass away ? Can't provide blanket guidance ,some can allow it some can't

People worried their area will be overun by people visiting? People can't stay overnight but they can travel

Hospitality opening ? Appreciate it is hard for those businesses but we have to avoid a second peak

If some people do not know how the virus spreads by now, and do not understand the principles ,there is no hope.

When I was 3 my dad taught me the principles of not getting run over by a bus. I took those on board and never needed telling about the danger of standing in the middle of the road again.
Whatever govt rules change, the principle is still the same. Coronavirus is highly contagious and some people are thick.
that doesn't answer why you can let a cleaner in and not your mum!

I think I’ve managed to recreate Gelson’s graph, took me a while but I think I’ve sorted it:

BBC still talking bollocks on face masks and cloth face coverings.
Of course it doesn't protect the wearer too much.
25%-64% better off for every other fucker you meet though. (Providing of course that the vast majority are wearing them.)
Half the people wearing them don't wear them correctly anyway, the number you see with their mouth covered, but their nose out, they may as well not bother.

They threw that number out at the start on purpose and for this very reason.

If i had a mum she would stay at home, even if she wanted to come. I would have done all her shoping and she would not have left her house . As has happened with my mum in law.
My cleaner can work with ppe, while I am out exercising, no issue.

As i said it is not difficult if you engage a modicum of sense.

Those looking to find an issue with every type of situation, are either stressed, or numb.

Not everyone has sense hence you have to spell it out, when you have hancock and his you can't see your loved ones from the garden because you have to go through the house to get to the garden answer to the question this morning you have to ask why he just didn't say because you would be tempted to hug them

It snacks of trump and his look how many lives we have saved,to distract from the number who have died, over 50,000 when it is all added together ,probably more and in just three months,i thought we would be better than that

i was really optimistic about things going back to normal.

But the death levels going up over here again.

China & South Korea now having more testing postive.

Really worrying now.
They aren’t going up here, whether they have fallen enough is a different debate.
