COVID-19 — Coronavirus

That 4% infection rate would be very surprising (unless it's been 'debunked' already?) - sure it was fairly recently if was suggested New York had a huge number of infection % in the population.
With the ease it would be for this virus to pass from objects to hands (see above) I find it hard to believe. I have minor habit of biting my nails (not hugely often but as a from of 'cutting' them down). Rubbing my ears, scratching my ears. The PM, Prince Charles, Tom Hanks, various footballers having it (and a raft of people, like myself, having that week long stomach cramps some time ago).

I think this is why the whole thing is affecting people...there's pretty much a massive lack of an all knowing eye in this scenario.

Only a short while ago I was watching the news about yet another cruise ship that had an outbreak of a 'bug' oblivious to the impending shit storm that has descended. I was feeling pretty up until late but perhaps time to stay safe as ever but stop leaning on the news. Not seeing much about a treatment/vaccines over the past few days too.

Bloody nightmare this.

BBC still talking bollocks on face masks and cloth face coverings.
Of course it doesn't protect the wearer too much.
25%-64% better off for every other fucker you meet though. (Providing of course that the vast majority are wearing them.)

No he called the same person a **** three times for not reading the fifty pages from boris ,he had a meltdown, happening to all of us at some point tbf
There’s plenty on here who need calling a **** more often than that!! I think a few also need to take some time out from this thread at times, always seems to be the same people posting

You cant really compare the subway in NY with most of the UK though. Its mad. All New Yorkers rely on it and other than London we've not got anything like that. It's an insanely dense city.

Correct. So easy in our part of Spain for those who are minimising the risk of CV spread by if they take the trouble to wear a facemask to as you say protect others.
Those who cannot be bothered stand out and are a massive risk to be near.
Others with the mask we can trust to maintain distancing regs..

It has worked with zero deaths and even zero hospital admissions from locals.

Challenged over whether it was confusing for people that they couldn't welcome their grandchildren or other family members into their home, but could allow their cleaners or carers into their houses, Mr Hancock disagreed.

"The principles are really clear and the public have been really sensible so far," he said

Sky news channel

If some people do not know how the virus spreads by now, and do not understand the principles ,there is no hope.

When I was 3 my dad taught me the principles of not getting run over by a bus. I took those on board and never needed telling about the danger of standing in the middle of the road again.
Whatever govt rules change, the principle is still the same. Coronavirus is highly contagious and some people are thick.

Any idea on the average over the last 4 or 5 days (to include the long weekend reporting)?
160 deaths registered over the extended weekend in hospitals in England.- about a 100 more than a wider Wed/Thu/Fri total due to non weekend working of most NHS beuracrates.
The figures from the the care quality commission are not published anywhere so there can be no meaningful independent statistical analysis of daily figures and whether there is a lag or not.

I don’t want to start a row here but I think gloves are pretty pointless as the virus does not spread through the hands so protecting ones hands is a waste of time. As long as your hands(gloved or otherwise) don’t go near your face then you will be ok

Gloves are a physical and mental barrier so in my view psychologically encourage you to not do subsconscious face touching that you would with your hands, it's just another layer of protection and no harm done in my view.

That increase in overall deaths (627) is worrying after a dip in the numbers over the weekend.
The ONS figures for total Covid deaths on death certificates of 36k as at 1st May shows that the Govt figure ( only those tested) are approx 9k light.
Some estimates of all deaths from Covid ( from excess death figures) are in the region of 50k.
Horrific numbers.

The 627 isn’t bad in grand scheme as it’s covered 3 day weekend lag, with the bank holiday.
