Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Let's assume they start the league on the date suggested, even if some players have the virus.

This is more a footballing argument, but what happens say, if we lose our 2 best players and those teams around us don't contract the virus in any way?

Not only is there no integrity in and around this whole charade, there will also be non on the pitch either and it could literally put certain teams at a huge disadvantage

Th£r£'s a v£ry simpl£ r£ason it's b££n approv£d.

I know you there is some cynicism but the evidence is that the risk settings for respiratory illnesses are typically in closed environments.

Football maybe a lucrative industry but the approval was for outdoor sports in general.

When the ball is in play the defending team must address the player with the ball from 2 meters with the phrase “I tackle you”

At this point the game is paused and the referee tosses a coin to see the result of the challenge.
I watched the South Korean game or a part of it last weekend. It was very competitive.

The key risk in the game is shouting. Or that is what I think anway. At least that can be controlled but I am not sure it will be.

Players aren't likely to sing (shown to be the most dangerous activity of all because it drags up large quantities of virus particles in droplets from deep in the lungs), and they are unlikely to be socialising before and after the game. There's travel too.

Players are also on the move almost all of the time in the open air which makes transmission of a significant viral load unlikely. Transmission is a function of the time you spend close in the company of an infected person and that's very clearly a much more significant problem for fans than players. On top of that players will be very regularly tested.

Governments across Europe have approved outdoors sports without crowds presumably because they think they have a different risk profile.
Good, you watch it then, I'm not interested until I can be there myself, because when its safe for me its safe for the players too.

I know we’re getting a refund and we’re entitled to nothing else but if we’re playing at home behind closed doors and don’t have sky/BT there should be some kind of stream on the official site for seasoncard holders. There’s not a chance I’m giving any of my money to sky/BT nor will I be watching any football without fans legitimately and giving them an extra viewing figure, anybody watching is as good as condoning football behind closed doors.

That’s total BS.

Hope you really don’t mean that to a fellow Blue.
"Nice get out!" is a complement referring to a neat change in argument. "Nice, get out!" has a different meaning. Comma changes the meaning.

talking of get outs, you didn't reply to my post x2 regarding players are more vulnerable to viral infections you keep spouting your opinion and use arguments that suit your side ,but don't look at the other side, I've said before and ill say it again, you are a very good and interesting poster and I look forward to reading your posts, however on this subject you've become a right fucking bore who is never wrong, there are two posters that share you views ,yourself and some other bored halfwit, why don't you both go to the park with each other if your bored and play football together , can everybody be so wrong but two posters be right ?

I've said it before but if the players are scared to play and the powers that be can't guarantee their safety, in writing, then all get together and refuse point blank to play.
If the players agree and want to play , then thats a very different thing.
They should just stand up for themselves or better still, their joke of a union should be advising the premier league to go fcuk themselves, on behalf of their members.
The PFA should be far more vocal about this. They seem to be pretty much silent.

Football has looked desperately shit throughout all this. They don’t seem to have grasped the wishes of the two most important groups of people involved in the sport: 1, the players; and, most importantly, 2, the fans.

I will leave you to it then.
