Tevez [Merged]

I remember us playing you boys at Molineux just before New Year a few years ago when you had Tevez and Bellamy up front. They terrorised us that night and I remember saying that even though we lost, it had been a privilege to see a player of Tevez's quality performing at Molineux

Controversial take but I reckon Pep would've preferred Tevez at his peak over Aguero. Tevez is an exteremely hard working (on the pitch at least) player with a ton of skill, creativity, and sense of positional play. I don't think he was better than Aguero, certainly not as a goalscorer, but he really was a typical Pep kind of player of a very high quality.

For me he was the most important signing at that time, Tevez was a real player, I will always remember his work rate, he chased lost causes, and defended from the front. He wore his hart on his chest, and gave everything he could to City, I will always see him as great player who helped City become who they are today. I miss him today, and wish he was still with us, he left a huge impression on me.

Can't say I agree. Tevez was an instincts player who is not exactly renowned for doing what he's told or being great with authority. Not exactly a team player either, always at his best trying to single handedly drag the team forward on his own. He was perfect for what we needed at that point in time, but genuinely don't think he'd be a great system player for someone like Pep.

glad you enjoyed watching them both play, I certainly did. Tevez was fantastic, a great finisher, great at long range shots the lot.

could watch him alone for 90 mins, his press for the ball, will to chase the keeper down on a back pass and if you dare take the ball off him. Bellamy also had a hell of a work rate, great player.

two away games I will never forget.

Norwich away to see the return of Tevez from his golifing spell in argentina. Mancini played him straight away on his return and many doubted it, but his display that day, also linking up with aguero to win 6-1.

Burnley away, I had to go in the burnley end due to no ticket. I was front row behind the goals right in front of the net stood with the burnley fans. To watch Tevez / bellamy / adebayor running at their defence as they kicked to the end I was stood was a pleasure. We where 4 nil up with less than 20 mins on the clock and we had also hit the post twice. The burnley fans near me knew I was a city fan but we all got on, they even said is it like this every week because your front line is impossible to defend against...….. WE wish !

Might have been Mancini’s first game I think.

a team player when in the mood, and would work hard and press, but not sure they could go too long without a big falling out

would peak tev get in the team? I think he’d be on the bench

Peak tevez would easily get in the team - ahead of Raz, Mahrez, Leroy, Jesus - infinitely better player than all of them - only sergio would survive from our main attackers - his work rate was far better than all baring GJ (but tevez was more aggressive and better in front of goal)

An absolute match winner on his own at times and a great player

What a fucking player.

In December 2010 we were joint top of the PL and he'd scored 50 goals in 73 matches for us.

At that point in time, he was the 3rd best player in the world for me.

It would be between him and Yaya who got the final spot on the post-takeover Mount Rushmore for me.

Kept West Ham up, won 2 leagues and a Champions League at United, came here and was the most important player in his first 3 years as we transitioned from wealthy to successful club, and then went to Juventus, won 2 titles and led them to their first and only Champions League final this century. Incredibly decisive player, and underrated too.

Aguero is obviously elite, but if Tevez had played under the free-scoring teams of Pellegrini and Pep, i think he’d have easily matched - and even eclipsed - everything Kun has achieved.

Wonderful player. Loved him before he came to England and when he did get here, he got better and better.

Funny listening to the Kia Joorabchian and Gary Neville interview, Joorabchian says Tevez not type to down tools. What about his sabbatical in Argentina when he played for City.

We played 73 matches in a month?

I mean if Mancini was the problem why didn't all the other players disappear for 6 months then? I'm not suggesting Mancini didn't play a role but Tevez is definitely not infallible here.
Mancini became a problem to the players and a lot of the backroom staff that did not come to the club with Roberto.

Legend, but a bit of a prick behind the scenes.

You wouldn't want a 100ft sculpture of Tevez mug. The poor chap fell out the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down
