Well I'm not sending my kids back until I'm satisfied they're safe, I couldn't give a fuck what Gove, Whitty, Hancock or wanna be Winston fucking say, my responsibility as a parent is to keep my children safe and it will be ME who makes the decision because it will be me and the rest of the family who has to live with the consequences not some pompous politicians.

Yes it could be the Muslims. Or it could the entire nation collectively losing its minds during the VE celebrations last weekend.
Except it can't be VE day yet unless they suddenly changed how the virus acts could it?
there was a clear increase due to easter, there is now a change in numbers from the Mildlands in particular. it could be for any number of reasons and the change in social behaviour during Ramadan could be one of them.

It might be that care homes, where the R is higher, are making up a higher proportion of cases as people in the community with the virus reduces. I’ve seen a number of statisticians and Public Health analysts suggest this on social media.

The Pubic Health team in Yorkshire and Humber say hospital admissions are not falling faster because COVID-19 units are now admitting ill people from care homes where they were resistant to do so before.

Maybe the Government will start publishing estimated R by location / sector of the people with the virus?

I've just been discharged from Glos Hosp. (twice in two weeks. Both unrelated to covid19, thankfully)
And though i was really impressed with the care, attention of all staff whilst in the ward, i was deflated, angry at groups of staff/people hanging about outside inherently not giving a shit. Me, with my protective clothing etc, made me feel that i was the odd one, and maybe the lockdown was finally over. To tell the truth, dont think anyone knows wtf is going on! Sorry. Am normally a 'glass full' guy

I notice Elton College will not re-open until September.
I suppose by then they’ll know if testing the safety of reopening schools has worked on the expendable proletariat and they can get our future leaders back in education.
They closed earlier than peasant schools n’all.

Is this taking into account the very scary but very real Kawasaki disease or toxic shock syndrome which seems to be becoming more and more prevalent in children who's immune systems have initially fought off Covid? Just wondering if they're not being labelled in getting ill from Covid when in actual fact they're getting ill from something related to it.

I've got a wee one at nursery (not been for 8 weeks) but I'd be reluctant to send him back until more information and more research is done on the Kawasaki disease symptoms as it's a horrifying prospect.

I've got a 4 year old and anything is worry. But the reality is they have got more chance of getting sepsis and becoming seriously ill from that. It hasn't stopped you living your life until this point. Every time you get out of bed it's a risk you just need to work out what level of risk is acceptable to take.

So only London and the midlands are below 7 and as such the only 2 really that should be easing lockdown, the north east certainly isn't looking like it should be changinng anything

that would be beyond horrific.

I just feel we’re not really implementing lockdown and the numbers are reducing massively.
A lot of people have not been impressed with the govt response so have acted more strictly off their own backs. Numbers will undoubtedly reduce when any forms of restrictions are in place too.

But we will enter a second wave in the next few months starting from a higher point than we did back from Patient 0 in February, so you could only imagine it would be worse.

That's bullshit (on their part) , but it makes for the convenience of trying to reassure NHS staff and the wider general public that those working within aren't at an greater risk.

Funnily, enough, just like the narrative they are trying to get out on teachers and kids.

NHS are clearly at the front line and carry huge risk to anyone else based simply on viral loads.

It was less than three months ago they said it was safe for kids to be in school, then they said it wasn't, and now they say it is.

Nothing has changed in terms of the virus still being in circulation.

A bit like the claim that playing a contact sport like football is safer than a trip to the supermarket ! As you say bullshit.

If the 30 or so players are tested of course it is safer. The virus doesn't last long outside and it difficult to pass on without contact. Supermarkets are indoors and everyone is touching everything, likely to be be where most of the people are still catching it.

Is anyone’s gut feeling now that we’ll all be back to normal pretty much by July/August ?

That really depends on whether your gut feeling is that there will be a 2nd wave. Current numbers are entirely irrelevant in that scenario.

It’s pretty straightforward:

If there is a 2nd peak, then absolutely not.

If there isn’t, then yes, however it certainly won’t be ‘normal’. Things will be open once more but under very different circumstances.
