Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Not confirmed they are all players, from the BBC article:

There were six positive tests for coronavirus across three Premier League clubs on Sunday and Monday, as the top flight prepares to resume in June.

The unnamed players or staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for seven days.

A total of 748 players and staff from 19 clubs were tested. The remaining club did their tests on Tuesday so will be included in Saturday's results.

Im presuming they will self isolate as they shouldnt have come into contact with the other players as yet
Come the next round of testing if a player is found positive and been around the training ground then maybe shut down the training ground
I bet they don’t , it seems lives don’t matter compared with finishing the season

Wolves have been given the all clear from tests carried out
So you can say who hasn’t but not who has?

As is being said, the testing twice a week i believe of footballers whilst many who are in actual harms way everyday cant even get one test is a national fucking disgrace.

Football can go fuck itself.

feel the same way. How anybody at our club or the fa can think this is not a pr disaster is beyond me.

I hope our players & others walk onto the pitch & don’t even kick the ball. Players have been forced down this route.

sounds crazy but the thought of going into a ground cheering city right now seems impossible with the lack of respect I have for football now

Bang on. No justification for this.

If I was in charge of one of those clubs,
I'd come out and say we have one or two players that's tested positive with covid-19.
Fuck the FA what are they going to do about it, they can't do Jack shit.

Disgraceful, my Mrs works in the nhs , she hasn’t seen our granddaughter in the flesh for 3 months , I tried to get her a test at the Etihad last week , I couldn’t as there were no available appointments

That’s bad because a mate of mine got one there last Friday and he’s not even a key worker. It might be because his other half works in a school though and one of the pupils had it. Still odd that he gets in for a test ahead of your Mrs though.

I just can't see how they can possibly restart after this news.

But if they do, and a player tests +ve after a game then my understanding is that all of the players/staff involved would then be isolated?

Imagine a scenario where 2 teams are isolated and are then unable to fulfill their next fixtures (as they are planning to cram them all in) so at least 2 games postponed. Do those teams then forfeit the points? This could be crucial on so many levels if so.

Also imagine the victims do get the required points quickly, they are then able to field their 2nd string for the rest of the season whilst all of the other teams would need to be pretty much full strength and therefore at more risk.

Are the premier league doing like Germany have done any player who has a positive test will be the only one being isolated? I guess they will because if the whole squad has to be isolated it would put more pressure on a null and void! Think Italy are putting the whole squad into isolating if one player gets a positive which is right!
I would like to think the clubs involved would make those calls
