Isn't this so bloody obvious.

And yet for weeks and weeks we had that moron Witty and his band of cretins, advising government ministers without a science o-level between them, that there was no need to wear them and no benefit in doing so. So that was the moronically stupid and wrong advice being pedalled.

And yet all the time we could see how effective mask-wearing was in Asian countries. An effective solution was right there in front of us.

The government's persistently wrong advice on something as important as this ha been a bloody bloody disgrace.

I genuinely believe that they knew all along they would be effective but didn't want to encourage the public to buy them due to shortages for key workers.

The phrase ‘World-beating’ Track and Trace system worries me. This is the government who informs, almost daily, that we are being lead by ‘the beat medical advice in the world’ yet our numbers of deaths suggest that can’t be the case.

If we were in the group of countries leading the would, shouldn’t our figures be nearer South Korea, less than 500?
It's fairly obvious that most Governments lie and guilty of spin to suit their plans or political pbjectives but to carry this on current situation where many lives are being lost is a little hard to accept.
I am now at the stage where I distrust every politician from every country whatever the subject.
Perhaps I have been naive in my pre CV days and I assumed integrity came with saving lives by ruling fairly and truthfully.

World beating at what though? tracking the virus or tracking people in general?

seroprevalence means general population.

Had to google it the other week.

thanks, but (and yes i am being picky) i just want to be sure that in this instance 'population' refers to general population at large, as opposed to target population of sample (i.e. those who have tested positive). Population definition gets confusing at stats level.

not really I was talking about kids getting an education an important right

if you want to bring up taxes the NHS also be costs over 125 billion a year , where do you think that money comes from? And while we are at it, teachers wages.
Valid points, however, children aren't going back for education, the set up is completely different and curriculum has been abandoned.
It's baby sitting.

With the flipside being that there would have been less cases and less need for consistent PPE resupplying for frontline workers if they'd advised everyone to wear cotton masks early on.

I don’t know. How do you keep finding this sort of thing?

ha! No idea. I probably confused thus guy with a comedian who appears as a guest in Countdown does 10 out of 10...
Twitter for you I guess. Occasionally go off piste to see what those who may wear garish 80’s shell suits might be thinking.

To bloody true.
And yet Whitty, Vallance and the rest of the Quatermas team are STILL peddling the line that it doesnt effect transnission much. I call that out as complete bollox. The science is now clear and the figures are fucking stark.
Immediate near universal (80%+) adoption of moderately (50%) effective masks could prevent on the order of 17–45% of projected deaths over two months of an epidemic.

Why not simply tell the truth and they didn't want the UK public grabbing all the surgical marks that were available because the NHS needed them? Most would have taken that message to heart.

I said at the start of this amongst all the other carnage this virus wreaks it would also cause political chaos and upheaval worldwide. As each day goes by and it becomes ever clearer that governments of many and major nations have made a massive clusterfuck of this. In turn this is opening peoples eyes to other issues and there will be blood on the streets in many places as a result.

we know the vast majority survive this if you get it, more so if you’re below age of 65
My point stands however.

If a large proportion of the population were infected already then it would mean the death rates were very low indeed. That is clearly not the case. Very few people have been infected which means the death rates are higher, but on the positive side, it seems you have a good chance of avoiding catching it.

I genuinely believe Witty is a buffoon. What you say may also be true, and the two statements are not mutually exclusive.

It's only world leading if they adopt the Taiwan model, that actually doesn't need testing to work. Testing negative just let's you out of isolation early and stops your contacts being pulled into the dragnet.

"I CAN'T GO BACK TO WORK AND MY KIDS CAN'T GO BACK TO SCHOOL. IT'S FAR TOO DANGEROUS FOR ME, MY FAMILY & OTHERS."

"Right, it's a lovely day. Let's all take a trip to the beach."
I watched a clip of Southend beach last night and it just made my heart sink. It was like a scene from benidorm in mid july. The conclusion i drew from it is that a lot of people genuinely don't give a fuck and screw the consequences to the rest of the country.

Are there any aerial views from the beaches available?
We should be accurate when we assess the distancing.

Going out is a good thing as long as folks are aware and responsible.

Im not sure anyone thinking a day at the beach with thousands of other people is in any way being responsible.
