Jadon Sancho

The reason Sancho left is because he lost faith in the club bringing him through, because no academy player has become a regular starter since Micah 14 years ago.

And not only that, but while they were negotiating his new contract, the club were very publicly trying to sign Alexis Sanchez for a club record fee that summer, so he thought like everyone else that with Sanchez, Sané and Sterling he wasnt going to get any meaningful playing time any time soon.

Hes not disloyal because he left, he was smart. Phil has been the anointed golden child of the academy and hes played fewer league minutes in his life than Sancho will in the next fortnight.

The club lost Sancho because of 10+ years of failure at the club to either give the kids coming through a chance, or produce kids good enough.

The reality is he wanted us to prove to him he would be playingbefore he signed a new deal but pep wouldn't give him what he wanted until he signed, it was a big standoff really.

To be fair, if Jadon was still here we might not have bought Mahrez, but no chance he'd be playing anywhere near as much as he does at Dortmund. He undeniably made the best decision to go there. Sought after by near enough every major club in Europe. Yes he was an incredible talent at City, but he wouldn't have developed as well without the move to Dortmund.

FWIW, I'd love him back. I think he, Sterling and Mahrez complemented by Bernardo and Foden playing wide would be an EXCEPTIONAL wide attack.

Exactly - he’s been proven right to leave; Foden still looks raw and naive 3 years down the line, because he’s never had the run of games to develop properly. The obligation to play Gundogan as an underwhelming #8 has stolen a few thousand crucial development minutes from Foden - at a time where we have generally been winning games by half time, and could accommodate a kid without it having a detrimental impact on results.

Expensive squad players kill off youth development, so if the club are serious about creating a legitimate pathway from the CFA to the first team, they have to stop sanctioning the signing £60m substitutes; surely the point of paying a coach £20m a year is to not need to - Ferguson got 200+ games out of the likes of O’Shea, Fletcher, Wes Brown, Phil Neville etc while dominating English football for 20 years.

Exactly. You don't need to have a world class player at every position to win trophies or dominate. We have an excellent academy but seeing the likes of Patrick Roberts or Andre Gomes being the next big thing and then moving into oblivion is something we can avoid. Sancho has proved us wrong. Brahim Diaz is facing the same uphill battle at Real that he was facing at City. So his choice for moving on is right , the choice of club not so much.
Foden deserves to start every match next season and atleast 4 or 5 when this season restarts. Again Garcia may be young but i don't think he will make more mistakes then Ota makes in every match.

My opinion is to be a dominating squad nowadays you probably need at least 13/14 world class/very good players. For example take a 4-3-3. World class in every part of the 11, then at least one very good CB as 3rd, very good main sub mid and a very good forward. After that, I think the quality can afford to drop to allow for youth development and cheaper squad players.

FWIW, I dont think we're far off this at City at all, our starting quality with an ageing Silva/not great 8 Gundogan, the everlasting LB problem and now CB this season has shown the gaps but it's not like we need to go get say 8/9 new first teamers this season. One new CB potentially 2 dependent on sales, a starting LB and then replacing whoever else is sold. I'd personally like another midfielder to join if it meant Gundogan joined the squad player category/Foden was utilised more out wide. But its not a gigantic rebuild job unless Pep wants it to be and sell a few more players than we expect

Lo and behold he scores an hattrick and a well taken one too.
Whatever maybe our history with him we should look at him as an option for Sane's replacement. He is pretty good( Let's not use the word world class for now). Worse thing would be he playing at the swamps or chelsea as these two teams will go all out for him. Will make our oppositions really strong!

I hope he gets a move as I am interested to see how good he is. The bundesliga is awful, Sunday league defending visible at most clubs. His hat trick today was laughable and even he would admit that!

Because he's scored a hat trick against bottom of the bundesliga we must sign.him immediately?
Give your head a wobble.

I think it would be more because with 17 goals and 17 assists in 29 games he's quite clearly the best young winger in the world.

He's got 5 games left to break KDB's Bundesliga assist record and he's only had an actual striker in the side to assist since January. Probably end up with 20+ goals too.

He's an astonishingly productive forward. He will always score goals and create them because of his incredibly high technical level, great pace and physicality, plus his great understanding of the game. He'll be excellent for any team. If we can get him, we should get him back in a heartbeat. He has an exceptionally high ceiling. It's quite mad to think he's still only 20.

I know but the bundesliga? It's only one team better than the Scottish prem.

So reading between the lines you think he's alright?

yesss and pep fucked up like with Sané and Garcia soon if he doesn’t play him..
I think Garcia will stay. I feel it would be the same with how Foden chose to stay. Pep will talk highly of Garcia, make him feel good and play him in a few games here and there for now, but let him know he's the future. We have had 4 CB's in recent years. Kompany, Laporte, Stones and Otamendi for rotation and possible injury. Soon both Otamendi and Fernadinho will leave so even if we buy another CB it will leave a slot for Garcia in due time. I think it would be in his best interest to stay as we play a style that suits him. No sense for him to go to a team that plays like the Rags.
